Pressure Being Put On Russia's Top General In Ukraine To DEliver Results

Reuters: Russia's 'General Armageddon' under pressure to deliver on battlefield after retreat

Russia's leading war hawks rallied behind the humiliating decision for Moscow's forces to retreat from the Ukrainian city of Kherson this month, but the commander who argued in favour of the move is now under growing pressure to prove it was worth it.

Sergei Surovikin, nicknamed "General Armageddon" by the Russian media for his reputed ruthlessness, on Nov. 9 recommended Moscow's forces quit Kherson and the west bank of the River Dnipro where they were dangerously exposed.

Surovikin, a 56-year-old veteran of wars in Chechnya and Syria who has been decorated by President Vladimir Putin, argued the withdrawal, completed two days later, would allow Moscow to save equipment and redeploy forces there - estimated by the United States at 30,000-strong - to offensives elsewhere.

Update: Russian nationalists blast 'General Armageddon,' demand he justify Kherson retreat (Jerusalem Post)

WNU Editor: When the war broke out I predicted that it would last into 2023, and maybe into 2024. I am still holding onto that prediction.

And as for the pressure that is being put on Russian General Sergei Surovikin to show results. He himself said that difficult decisions will need to be made (and the withdrawal from Kherson was probably that difficult decision), and it will take time.

When I heard his "time" remark, I said to myself that Putin has given him a mandate that does not have a timetable. In short. He has all the time that he needs to prosecute the war.

And this is not General Surovikin's "first rodeo". He was given the same mandate by Putin to prosecute the war in Syria, and during his command Russian/Syrian/and Hezbollah forces were successful in taking control of 50% of the country (link here).

when will the US learn--if you're not really 'winning,' you're training the enemy.

I dunno WNU don't you think the US and Kurds had a big part to play in Surovikin's success?

ISIS was fighting on 2 fronts. The Kurds took a lot of territory from ISIS, which would have otherwise been rear are base areas.

You can make a legitimate argument that the Russians could have take those also, if the America had not been there. It would have been a lot slower and a lot bloodier, At the time Hezbollah had a lot of problems with its casualty rate. If Heazbollah has take 2 or 32 time the total casualties to be able to walk into Al Raqah, would Hezbollah be hollowed out?

AT 1:37 It is nice to see you are learning new tricks B Poster. You make a good parrot.
I'll teach you an new trick. The fact that both sides are being trained. It is a training arms race. In 60 top 90 days Russia will be kicked out of Kherson oblast and Sevastopol will be under direct artillery fire. Russians will be training as Olympic sprinters.

try to keep up. B poster is a accountant in Texas or louisiana or something, and "the parrot" is a different fellow whom you so named and abused (and vice versa) for years--while we all had to read your inane quarrels like it was supposed to matter.

The fact is that the Russians swooped right down and kicked ISIS ass, and saved that country from US regime change.

It ought to have been a triumphant moment for humanity, but America (DC) has no class
