Daily Mail: Putin 'has been offered surrender terms by the West' as he loses control of Kherson - and 'his cronies have reacted positively because it allows them to stay in power and avoid criminal charges'

* Vladimir Putin has been offered surrender terms by Ukraine and allies, a prominent Russian academic said

* Plan would see Russia give up all territory in Ukraine except Crimea, which would become demilitarised zone

* In return, Putin and cronies would avoid war crimes prosecution and remain in power, Valery Solovey claimed

* Details emerged as Russian troops fled Kherson, with Ukraine liberating the city after eight-month occupation

* Putin's forces fled east across the Dnipro River, with Ukrainians painting a picture of a chaotic retreat, that saw Russian troops ditching their uniforms or drowning while trying to escape

Vladimir Putin has been offered surrender terms by the West, a respected Russian policy expert revealed today, as Moscow's troops were forced to withdraw from the city of Kherson in yet another humiliating defeat.

Professor Valery Solovey, formerly at Moscow's prestigious Institute of International Relations and who claims to have connections in the Kremlin, said the surrender would see Russia give up all territory in Ukraine with the exception of Crimea, which would become a demilitarised zone and its status would not be discussed again until 2029.

In return, Putin and his cronies would avoid criminal charges over the war and be allowed to remain in power, Professor Solovey claimed.

Update: BREAKING: Vladimir Putin offered surrender terms by the West after humiliating Kherson loss (Euroweekly)

WNU Editor: In the next two months there will be approximately 500,000 Russian troops and militia in Ukraine backed by the firepower of the Russian military. This deployment will be in the middle of winter, and the expectation is that Ukrainian positions will be exposed to Russian air superiority and firepower.

This tells me that surrender is not what Putin is focused on. He and his generals will be focused on continuing the economic war against Ukraine by destroying its infrastructure, and to continue to degrade the Ukraine military.

I learned a few days ago that Ukraine called-up 100,000 more men to go to the front-lines to replace killed and wounded soldiers. I expect this call will be repeated a few more times this winter.  I will also not be surprised if Moscow calls up more reserves in January. They are also heavy casualties.

This is a war of attrition, and in this war Russia has the time and resources to win.

Unfortunately, I would not be surprised that when this is all over a million casualties would have been the result, all the major cities in Ukraine will be heavily damaged, and it will take years to rebuild what has been destroyed.

More bullshit. At least in Kherson Oblast the farmland is row to row and There is but a line of trees between fields is some cases. We are well into autumn ad there are not a lot leaves on the trees as it is, So a month means the last 5% or 10% fall and that makes all the difference>

Russian airpower has been pretty crappy. Have not heard of any air loses in the last 2 weeks. it might be because the Russians are not crossing the line but volley firing. Real air superiority that.

Calling surrender terms instead of a peace treaty is bound to redound not in Russia's favor.

The way I see it, it is a rest and reload period. Kind of like the Balkans before WW1. There were two rounds of fighting in the Balkans before Ww1. It is just human nature.

Keep talking big numbers. 500,000. Question were are the a tanks? 50% are destroyed and the rest are probably not choice.

Not to mention that the 500k is a ceiling estimate and not realistic considering their vast supply issue with basic essentials and equipment that has been reported elsewhere but not here. You mostly get the pro Russian bias perspective here.

Ukraine has now stabilized the south along the Dnipro river, a natural barrier that neither side can cross. Further to the east no rivers offer natural flank protection, it’s all open land abutting the Russian border, so difficult for the Ukrainians to attack.
I think both sides take a winter break from major offensives. Time to train, re-equip, rest and negotiate until springtime weather. Now is a great opportunity for the west to offer decent terms to the Russians.

Now is the time to plan the complete destruction of the Russian Army and Russia's ability to wars of aggression.

I know, where I would start.

Sounds about right to me, WNU

Some of you all place a lot of faith in the Ukies. What is this based on?

The Ukrainian military most experienced leaders and soldiers are now dead.
Ukie military and civilian industry has been destroyed.
Majority of military equipment has been destroyed and now they have to beg the West for weapons
For the most part the Ukie Air force has been destroyed and is nonexistent.

So what is the reason for this wonderous belief that manifests itself as.....that the Ukies are the sure winners in this conflict?

On the reverse side, where is the russian might? Their airforce? Why after a year of fighting will they now magically win?

All I smell from 8:18 is fear mongering.

We've been told for 2 or 3 months if not longer that the best UA military people are dead. Then who conducted the Kharkiv and Kherson offensives? If it was their replacements, amateurs or newbies, then the Russian Army has much bigger problems. I have it on good authority that word has gotten down to a bundh of 1st graders in LA about how the Russians Army got pawned by some new replacements for lost veterans. Word has it they plan to knock over the Russian Army and seize Moscow.

For a casual observer I would say both sides so signed of gross negligence and incompetence. So wo is more incompetent than the other? Who knows?? In this scenario who has the greater advantage? The Russians or the Ukies? The Russians still have a country untouched by the ravages of war.

But once again none of you have answered the question.

What is your belief that the Ukies will win based on? Because it definitely does not look good for them.

If I was the Russians, I would not back down. If they do , Their Econ system will collapse. Their political system will be illegitimate. They will fall under the dominance of a perverted western culture like the rest of the americazied world. It is better to die on your feet than to grovel on your knees.

@8:48, Ukraine has shown it is the superior fighting force for as long as they receive lavish aid from the USA and NATO.
That won’t be enough to take back all the captured Ukrainian land. Russia doesn’t have the military gear to rebuild an invasion force. It does have the gear to field a defensive force that will kill lots of Ukrainians. I predict lavish American aid dwindles over 2023. I predict Germany and others revolt at their economic costs and demand a ceasefire.

Now is a great time to negotiate since neither can impose its will on the battlefield. If this opportunity is lost, another year passes before the next opportunity.

Now would be a great time to seek realistic terms, but that's not what's happening.

A historical note. The US likes to crow a lot about how their army was superior to Axis forces in WWII. Independent studies show grudgingly that the Germans were better. The Germans took Kharkov 3 times. They were superior fighters. In the end, they still lost. Do not make too much of this last offensive. The Ukies did a great job, but this conflicted is far from over.

I agree,

They need to negotiate a settlement. That would be best.

Inch by inch finish their military.,

That 500k is just an illusion

The bias is always skewed so far left here you don’t know what is what anymore. And when does China get involved? Maybe they already are supplying Russia with much needed ammunition and supplies. It’s nice to hear another perspective once in a while.

But here is headline that makes one think outside the echo chamber

"Politico says this B-52 bomber flight was to send a message to Iran. Hmmm .... maybe this B-52 flight was to send a message to Saudi Arabia over this "

Isn’t the destruction of Ukraine the goal? How else are they going to build it back better as big Israel?
