France 24: Turkey warns Finland, Sweden must 'take steps' before joining NATO

Turkey will not formally approve Finland and Sweden's membership of NATO until the two countries take the necessary "steps", Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told alliance chief Jens Stoltenberg Friday.

Ankara has accused the two Nordic nations of providing a safe haven for outlawed Kurdish militants it deems "terrorists" and held back on ratifying their NATO membership despite an agreement in June.

"President Erdogan noted that the steps to be taken by Sweden and Finland would determine how fast the approval process... would go and when it would be concluded," the Turkish presidency said.

Who have finland or sweden ever defended?

Finland fought the Russians and outkilled them 4 to 1.

If Russia was fighting Finland and Ukraine at the same time, there would be no more Russia.

At least finland has a decent army. Sweden contributes literally nothing.

Either hand over your Swedish-kurdish citizens, including elected MPs, to Turkiye so they can be tortured for information, or give up your silly little NATO dreams. If they really think that they need to fear a Russian invasion, and it's an urgent concern, then the math should be simple. Hand the 20-30 kurds over to save millions. Or perhaps they don't actually fear such a thing..?
