Ukraine Braces For A Brutal Winter

 

CNBC: ‘There may be no light for a very long time’: Ukrainians face a massive test of survival this winter 

* Over 10 million Ukrainians have fled the country since the start of the war, but those who stayed have already been pushed to the limits of their resilience. 

* As winter sets in — with temperatures set to plummet and dwindling daylight hours — officials are warning of widespread shortages of energy and heat. 

* The WHO warned that the situation facing millions of Ukrainians was “life threatening.” 

 Over 10 million Ukrainians have fled the country since the start of the war, but many of those who stayed — particularly in the south and east of the country — have already been pushed to the limits of their resilience. 

Daily life has become a test of survival for many, with basic necessities such as water, food and medical provisions becoming scarce. 

Russia has also continued to pound the country’s energy infrastructure; around 10 million people in Ukraine currently have no power as a result of Russian strikes on energy facilities over recent weeks.

Getting three grand a month from the Canadian government plus a two year work visa, why would they go back? FYI max EI in Alberta is about $2100 after tax, for eight months. Figure that one out

Diaspora can be quite dangerous. Russia might find Ukrainian diaspora inimical to its interest across Europe and North America.

It is going to majorly suck to be Russia.

True, but in my opinion it will be Ukraine and Europe, not Russia, who hurts most from the cold
