KYIV/KHERSON, Ukraine, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Russian missile strikes have crippled almost half of Ukraine's energy system, the government said on Friday, and authorities in the capital Kyiv warned that the city could face a "complete shutdown" of the power grid as winter sets in.
With temperatures falling and Kyiv seeing its first snow, officials were working to restore power nationwide after some of the heaviest bombardment of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure in nine months of war.
The United Nations has warned of a humanitarian disaster in Ukraine this winter due to power and water shortages.
"Unfortunately Russia continues to carry out missile strikes on Ukraine's civilian and critical infrastructure. Almost half of our energy system is disabled," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

WNU Editor: My sources in Ukraine are telling me that more than 50% that has been knocked-out. I still give it a couple more weeks before almost all of Ukraine's grid has been knocked-out.
And when that is accomplished, I can see Russian military strikes shifting to knock out other critical infrastructure such as bridges and natural gas installations that provide heat.
My prediction is that when much of Ukraine's critical infrastructure has been wiped out, Russia will begin a new offensive that many have been predicting for the past two months. But before that happens I think we are going to be seeing a third of the country leave, and Europe will be facing an even grater refugee crisis than what happened in the first two months of the war.

They are repairing electric grid faster than Russia can destroy them with international help… like the whole Russian invasion, this is another terrible strategy
if that is so, guess russians need to increase bombing to make it more effective.
Any data on repair ops?
Otherwise how do we know which is having a greater effect...bombing or repairs
This Russian strategy is only increasing their own troop morale, international support for AA, support for infrastructure repair.. and Russia gets international condemnation for committing genocide on the Ukraine people bye trying to freeze them to death… makes Russia look weak and feeble attacking civilians when they can’t win a battle with actual troops… Kherson for example…
At this point the Russians probably do not care what the situation looks like.
One of the many mistakes they made was not doing this from the very beginning.
The rest of this war is going to be a grind your teeth and go forward drill.
If they have not figured that out , it is thier problem
If true. They need to adopt a better strategy. I think these guys are not stupid, but fortune has definitely not been good to them and they seem to be slow at learning from thier mistakes.
on the otherside all i see is the Ukrainians bleeding themselves dry for temporary gains
An interesting thing with this war is that 99% of all the refugees from Ukraine is women and children whilst almost everyone from MENA and other of these places is almost young men.
So i think Europe will handle all refugees from Ukraine, not without some problems, way better than the rapewagon from 2014-2018.
Yes and totally different culture. Semetic cultures are by thier nature oppresive and lack empathy. The domination and oprression of outsiders is one of thier hallmarks
50 Russian troops died in one go way behind the lines at Skadovs'k.
But according to the Russian troll above it is the other side being bled white.
What troll?
Yes, expected. make sure you donate to antfa this month
11:41
None ....no troll... ugly situation, in the long term or short term
No troll at 1141. ukies have been going into grinder. can they hold thier current positions. probably not. so short term victory. probably a long term defeat.
If 11:41 / 1:09 was not trolling, it or xer would have said something like both sides are being bled white.
An army that is not being bled white does not reel back in retreat.
We shall see...this is long from over. armies retreat and then go forward. who will last till the bitter end?
You okay man?
You give ground if pressed, but usually it is grudgingly given. Armies will also retreat from salients, if pressed or about to be. The only place that the russians retreated from that might be considered a salient was Kerson north of the river.
The russian retreat from Kharkiv so fast they equipped a whole Ukrainian artillery brigade with the best Russian artillery.

Yes, we are talking rout, pell mell retreat.

russians can't drive, can't shoot and can't win.
yes magic 8 ball work great. No not really. good luck.
rus troll still at it ^
Most of the editor's assesment here when it comes to possible outcomes of russian and ukraine war are not true.
All I see is Russian forces humiliated by Ukraine forces
Were you saying that about 4weeks ago before the ofensive and ukies were getting thier butts kicked?
Or maybe when the ukies surrendered in maripol?
And his assessments are really good considering he does not have access to TS info.
These guys on this site who are blatantly ukie shrills present the same info i can get off of CNN.
The info here continues to be accurate.
This war is not Ukraine's to win
It is Russia's to lose.
Think about that before you start chanting Slava Ukrainia back at us.
Most of the force projections about the Uks is crap. Sorry, not my doing..it is just the way it is
The Russians are going to get the 3rd legs broke off judging from the map and reports.
We will see
