Washington Post: U.S. intelligence report says key gulf ally meddled in American politics

U.S. intelligence officials have compiled a classified report detailing extensive efforts to manipulate the American political system by the United Arab Emirates, an influential, oil-rich nation in the Persian Gulf long considered a close and trusted partner.

The activities covered in the report, described to The Washington Post by three people who have read it, include illegal and legal attempts to steer U.S. foreign policy in ways favorable to the Arab autocracy.

It reveals the UAE’s bid, spanning multiple U.S. administrations, to exploit the vulnerabilities in American governance, including its reliance on campaign contributions, susceptibility to powerful lobbying firms and lax enforcement of disclosure laws intended to guard against interference by foreign governments, these people said. Each spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss classified information.

The Israelis do this all the time so what is the big deal?
Unless you change a whole group of laws dealing with lobbing, campaign contributions and advertising it will continue. They pay for influence and that sums it up. This is a reality if you want to be heard in DC

No one meddles in US politics as much as the Democrat Party. Besides news filler, diverting attention, making it look like they are doing something, there is the reason WNU gives for this news story.

When you can vote in stroke victims and Alheimers patients at will, there is no more Democracy.

Five days after a disappointing midterm election result and two days before former president Donald Trump is expected to announce a 2024 presidential bid, Republicans are grappling with an almost existential quandary: Who can lead the party to a post-Trump future?

In private conversations among donors, operatives and other 2024 presidential hopefuls, a growing number of Republicans are trying to seize what they believe may be their best opportunity to sideline Trump and usher in a new generation of party leaders.

Many blame Tuesday’s midterm results — Republicans failed to takeover the Senate and made smaller-than-expected gains in the House — on the former president, who during the primaries elevated extremist candidates who fared poorly in the general election. The discouraging election outcomes, combined with Trump’s 2020 loss to Biden, have increased both public and private talk of considering a post-Trump world.

Gateway Pundit provides accusations about voting fraud but no specific evidence. Perhaps the accusations have merit, but unless data and evidence provided the charges are meaningless.

As for Dems wrecking the electoral system, have they marched on the Capitol as was done Jan 6?

The numbers are specific. Saying there is no specific evidence, when such was provided, is dishonest. Have a nice day and enjoy your tea dance.

"Besides news filler, diverting attention, making it look like they are doing something, there is the reason WNU gives for this news story."

Maybe stop biting the rug and read WNU's elucidation of the why's and wherefor's of the timing of this announcement.

Or go eat a twinkie.
