US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan Held Talks With Russian Officials To Warn Against Escalating The Ukraine War

Daily Mail: Biden's national security adviser involved in 'confidential conversations' with top Putin aides to warn against use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine - and to reduce risk of escalation in ongoing war

* White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has been meeting over the past few months with Russian officials

* US officials say he has met with Yuri Ushakov, a foreign policy adviser to Putin, and his direct counterpart, Nikolai Potrushev

* The goal has been to warn against escalating the war in Ukraine and prevent a nuclear war

* At the same time, US officials are said to be pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to drop his ban on negotiations with Putin

President Joe Biden's national security adviser is said to be involved in 'confidential conversations' with top Putin aides in an effort to prevent nuclear war.

United States officials told the Wall Street Journal on Sunday how Jake Sullivan has been meeting with Yuri Ushakov, a foreign policy adviser to Putin, and his direct counterpart, Nikolai Potrushev, to warn against escalating the war in Ukraine — though they will not discuss any potential settlements of the conflict.

Several officials who spoke to the Journal about Sullivan's discussions with Russian officials have said he is known within the White House for pushing a line of communication with Russia, even when others thought it would be fruitless.

WNU Editor: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that US National Security advisor Sullivan has had talks with Nikolay Patrushev who heads Russia's Security Council. The purpose was to "guard against the risk of escalation and keep communications channels open" and not to discuss a peace settlement for the Ukraine conflict.

I have a different point of view.

US National Security adviser Jake Sullivan has been pushing for escalation since Day One. I am willing to bet that Jake Sullivan told Nikolay Patrushev that if Russia launches its expected offensive against Ukraine in the coming months that many are now predicting Russia will do, the US will also escalate.

To put it more bluntly. I think Sullivan warned the Kremlin that the US will deploy US and allied military forces into Ukraine if Russia starts its counter-offensive. There are about 100,000 US and allied military forces near the Ukraine border. They can be deployed very quickly if the order is given.

I think this is the reason why the Kremlin has not responded publicly to these talks .... Kremlin Refuses To Comment On U.S. Press Report About Undisclosed Talks With Washington (RFE). Jake Sullivan has given them pause on what to do next.

My prediction. Russia will still launch its counter-offensive in Ukraine. And if US and allied military forces are deployed into Ukraine, it will be seen by the Kremlin as crossing a red line and a signal that the U.S./NATO are going to go to war against Russia.

" it will be seen by the Kremlin as crossing a red line and a signal that the U.S./NATO are going to go to war against Russia."

What is the point of going to war, when the Russian your army navy and air force is beaten? All Russia will have left is the nukes to fall back on.

WW2 should not have happened. But it did. Hitler gambled and won for awhile. There are various explanations for Hitler's actions. Parkinson's, inbreeding, syphilis, etc.

What is Putin's excuse for being stupid and starting a World War?

if the Russians are beaten, why does NATO need to go into Ukraine?

"if Russia launches its expected offensive against Ukraine in the coming months "

Sounds like a definite maybe. Sure you need operational security and all, but we were told that Pavlivka was a failure for the great Russian army because the generals did not wait for winter and froze ground, We are told winter is a few weeks away and then told the counter offensive is in the coming months. The Russians waiting for the spring thaw. That would be in the coming months as well.

Army logistics does not wait that long. People got to eat.

I always am curious of this. Russia loses every battle and all drones are shot down but yet here we are.

Russia has not won a battle since spring except to take Severodonetsk.

Other than the the Americans have ukes and the Russians have many mauled units with low ammo (American lack ammo too now), the Russians would have laughed their damn heads off. when Jake
"Pencil Neck Geek" Sullivan spoke.
