Washington Post: Investigators see ego, not money, as Trump’s motive on classified papers

Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos, according to people familiar with the matter.

As part of the investigation, federal authorities reviewed the classified documents that were recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and private club, looking to see if the types of information contained in them pointed to any kind of pattern or similarities, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

That is pretty much what everyone, who is center or right of center, is thinking.

In fact it seems to give further credence that the US is not a Republic and does not have democratic rule in any shape or form. When you rule by continual leaks and lies to shape the information space, you're done. Stick a fork in it. It is over.

That Merit Garland should appoint a special counsel, when he knew this means he should be impeached.

This is bs!
Trump took matrerials that belonged not to him but to govt archives. And yes, he wanted them for ego reasons but that does not alter the fact that this was illegal. Even the source you cites to show his innocence says this:

Top national security prosecutor joins Justice Dept.' Mar-a-Lago investigation

The FBI has recovered three batches of classified documents from Mar-a-Lago in the past year. The first batch, in January, came when Trump agreed to hand over to the National Archives and Records Administration 15 boxes of material that the agency believed contained historical presidential records. In those boxes, archivists found 184 classified documents, including 25 marked top secret, which were scattered throughout the boxes in no particular order, according to court filings.

Their discovery raised concerns among both archivists and national security officials that there could be more classified material still at Trump’s Florida home. In May, a grand jury issued

"Trump took materials that belonged not to him but to govt archives."

Obama took a few hundreds of thousand of records. Bet some are classified.

First, the government overclassifies. From the point alone it is bound to happen
Second, the sheer number of document Obama took for his "library".
Third, Obama took document from a variety of departments. any he took form the DoD are bound to be classified.
Fourth, the sheer volume of documents means that the head archivists not 10 or 20 of his subordinates went through Obama's documents.

You are a libtard or a Russian troll. There really is no distinction between the two.

An enterprising FSB agent would get someone in the Obama library to scan documents for them they are bound to find something, sooner rather than later. after they hoover it all up they can tell the world to embarrass the Washington political establishment and roil things up.

Where's the little monkey?

Were they the only copies? Were they classified materials that he received while in the White House? Seems to many that this never happened with other Presidents. Obviously you're going to have to nag Donnie about his late library books and things of this nature. Bit it's not like he was trying to _stral_ them. A fine would be more appropriate, of maybe a dollar a day.
