Reuters: Ukraine in talks with allies about getting long-range missiles - aide

Expedited talks are under way among Kyiv and its allies about Ukraine's requests for long-range missiles that it says are needed to prevent Russia from destroying Ukrainian cities, a top aide to President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Saturday.

Ukraine has won promises of Western battle tanks and is seeking fighter jets to push back against Russian and pro-Moscow forces, which are slowly advancing along part of the front line.

"To drastically reduce the Russian army's key weapon - the artillery they use today on the front lines - we need missiles that will destroy their depots," presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak told Ukraine's Freedom television network.

He said on the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula there were more than 100 artillery warehouses.

WNU Editor: As today's updates on the Russia - Ukraine war revealed (link here), Ukraine is under pressure along most of the front lines. Bottom line. They need better and more effective weapons.

A prediction.

After missiles and fighter jets, Ukraine will be demanding the stationing of NATO troops.

Andrij Melnyk, Ukrainian ambassador to Germany has now started asking for German submarines.

https://twitter.com/MelnykAndrij/status/1619391028917837825

"Hi guys, I know I’m gonna get a new shit storm, but I have another creative idea. Germany (ThyssenKrupp) produces one of the world’s best submarines HDW Class 212A. The Bundeswehr has 6 such U-boats. Why not to send one to Ukraine? Then we’ll kick 🇷🇺fleet out of the Black Sea"

When questioned how they would get the sub through the Bosphorus, he simply replies: "By land. No problem"

Clown world.

WNU is correct that the US government is going about the Russia/Ukraine war in terms of attrition. I think the US strategy is to induce Russia to funnel as much treasure and blood (healthy young Russian males) into the meat grinder until it becomes unpalatable for Russians at large and a revolution is sparked by the population. Now what rises out of this "revolution" is not fully explained.

But Russia cannot afford to lose young males at the rate that is being reported.

Rah Rah Rah Blogger did not report that Wagner may have been rotated out of the frontline. Normal rest and recuperation or are they spent due to casualties?

Wagner has some of the most experience Russian soldiers. They are people who completed military service in the Russian army ad then joined Wagner. Those people may be hard to replace.

The Wagner people recruited from the prisons, I do not think Russian leaders care about. I do not think anyone cares about them anywhere in the world. That said that is not 100% of them. There is blowback to not caring for them and it is also a betrayal.

I think those convicts have a beef with the Russian establishment. They had one after WW2 after they were not freed but sent back to prison. they had ne where they existed on the fringes and yet people in power used their service in the Brezhnev are and afterwards, which get a person thinking how does that happen?

IDK Why would a wonderful Ukrainian like Brezhnev ever let something like that happen?

Truly inconceivable.

I hope that the ambassador will volunteer as a crew member on that sub. That way he can get the full experience of dying when the hull gets crushed after being hit by a torpedo.

Otherwise , just another idiot with no skin in the game.

Missiles for the ukies. Yes, they need them. But Nato does have a choice here. Do you really want to do this?

Q:
Is it going provide the winning stroke in the war?
A: Yes or No .....most likely no.

Q: Are you going to give them enough missiles to really make a difference or is going to be a wunderwaffen moment like the V2 program?

A: probably a wunderwaffen moment and it is not going to make a difference to things:

Then:
a. Why spend the money?

b. Do you want to help bomb the cities of a nuclear power?

If both are yes, then have fun. you probably like to also jump lines of trucks on a motorcycle aka Evel Knievel style.

Just make sure you launch or make all deliveries from Australia. I am sure they will not mind being at a possible ground zero.

Here is a nice article for all to read. I am sure Fazzy and Skoda will not be happy with it. But thats ok. They have never served, been on a battlefield, and seen the devastation or had any skin in the game. Come to think of it, they have a real odd sense of reality. Must be those CNN or NYT articles they read or too many video games.

Any way. enjoy....

The US Marines recruited from the DA's offices in this country late in the Viet Nam war. the offer was given to 18 year olds and the like, conviction/jail or join the Corp. I had a staff sgt. who stabbed a guy in Chicago and then fought the cops. He was 17 1/2. He joined the Corp and ended up in Viet Nam. Recruiting from prison to find folks to fight lother peoples wars seems smart.

Be careful in using past incidents to talk about present realities. Sometimes it might apply. Often not. Example: In Nam war, college students got exemptions and the poor and non-college and minority people got drafted.

Not the same. In Iraq after 2006 we are getting some pretty sketchy characters. Some of these guys did really well, like the SSGT of Marines.

Just because a guy served a tour in the jail, does not mean they will be poor soldiers.
As for Nam...That exemption crap was for the elites. That or the NG.
Everyday guys...a lot of times they got the hobson's choice.

I know an E6 who got joined after being given the choice of jail or service. His last crime before giving the choice was destroying several parking meters. Claimed he got the idea watch Cool Hand Luke while in the county lock up. Good E6. Married a Pauite. 2 sons. Great life.

Ron could tell us a little more. The stabber might not be as bad a Ron makes him out to be. The Sgt might have stabbed the gym, but it might have been a fair fight.
