Kremlin probably recalled their intelligence agent. That's a good reason as any for the wnu's absence.

Did WNE die or something?

Anonymous said...

I just got off the phone with his brother Henry, and unfortunately Victor passed away on Friday. I mentioned that his brother had a very large online presence with a ton of daily readers worrying about him. He said that he's really unaware of his brother's blogs and was wanting me to text him back on his own phone to get more information about it and to hear about my interactions with him.

I told him that I personally hadn't really interacted with the WNU editor, it's just been my daily read for a decade or more. I think some of you other guys might have however? He seems very eager to talk about his brother. If any of you guys (that post under your actual names) would like to get in touch with him you can drop me a line at temp2024box@gmail.com and let me know here that I should check it.

Henry wasn't even aware of the URL for this website but he said that he will try to get on and post a message about Vic's passing.

There really is no replacement. At least I don't know of any other news aggregator that focuses on important foreign policy news and doesn't pay much attention to the "culture war" or the day to day theatrics that domestic politics has become.

I'm probably just going to be less informed now lol.

RIP, if true.

Been an avid reader of this blog for many years. I'll add my
2 cents... Victor has always been a bit of a controversial figure. Especially concerning his stance on the Ukraine war. I've not agreed with him on many subjects. I honestly enjoyed this blog more about 3-4 years ago when it wasn't attracting so many trolls or parrots. It's a damn shame the legacy of his blog I gonna be this.

Very surprising to learn his brother isn't aware of the blog. That speaks volumes to me and gives weight to some suspicions I've had which I'll keep to myself.

WHAT?!?! Before his own ailing mother? This is a bit difficult to settle with. Very unexpected. I thought this blog would continue to be an invaluable reference for us for at least another decade. What wake slap from reality. I didn't realize the comments had a second page because comments never usually broke 3 digits here, so I am just reading your comments now. What an absolute shame man, wow! Very sad to hear about this...

...Does anyone have any other recommendations for other quality aggregates or sites of this caliber?

If he is born in 1960 he is only 65 years old! That is too young to be dying! WNU was the first website I would visit each day when I got on line. Rest in peace Victor, and deepest condolences to his friends, family and fellow readers. I will miss a certain few of the commenters of this blog as well. I am so shocked by this, I am almost at a loss for words.

If he passed away on Friday Jan 19, it was after he had posted for the day, since there are blog posts for that date.

Anonymous said...

I pray the Ukrainian's did not assassinate him.

Anonymous said...

I can't say I knew-knew Victor, but I have met him before on a couple of occasions but I am personally acquainted with others who know him more.

Victor passed away in the most mundane circumstances, sudden, unexpected but benign.

There was a LOT of stress in his life, from what I understand from others who knew him better. That stress seems to have gotten the better of him.

What I can and will say is that Victor's stresses came mostly from within his family, very little of it was work-related. The Russian/Ukraine war piled on the stress. A lot of his overseas relatives did not take kindly to some of his coverage of the war and there were accusations that he was misquoting/misleading information he got from relatives, and not all of them knew about the blog which was something he kept on the low.

Victor has some very strong opinions and he's never afraid to express them; those opinions got him in hot water a lot of times with his family. He was not a recluse but in a lot of ways he started to become one. I think he regretted some of the stuff he said outside of the blog but alas people have long memories. The man was a Russian patriot even if he downplayed that side of him a lot and sadly that led to a lot of falling out with Russian and Ukrainian relatives.

I could say a lot more. I really could, but there's a lot of conspiracy nutjobs who stalked Victor's coat-tails so there's very little point in adding more fuel to the fire. There was nothing sinister in his passing.

RIP.

This is the the worst thing that I've been dreading. I nervously check this site dozens of times per day hoping for an update on Victor. This blog has been a part of my life since probably 2009 or so. I've killed so much time here and read and learned so many interesting things.

When I found this site I could tell the editor had similar interests to me and this site was right up my alley. I will miss his commentary and stories. I'll also miss some of the regular, normal commenters. They know who they are. He was a tremendous man and great person. This is heartbreaking..

Anonymous said...

Spoke to Vic's brother again and he mentioned that they have hackers trying to get into his PC's and accounts in order to try and make a post here. Any weirdness you see with stuff like bookyards could be related to that.

He also expressed that it has absolutely floored the entire family to find out that we exist and how much Vic meant to us. He was very private and his family wasn't quite sure what he wanted his legacy to be until they started hearing from people who've reached out and left words on his memorial page.

I can also confirm it was completely benign health-related passing, which Henry may share more about in his own words if he wishes.

I've been following this blog since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict. Viktor's views were never showing any signs of hate, but rather understanding of the other side.
It has shaped my way of understanding geopolitics, and I hope it did for many other people as well, especially those in power.

Daily reader for 16 years. Victor shaped my understanding of domestic and global dynamics in a way that a tier one university education barely could. Victors lens on analysis was system based and more predictive than any pundit or outlet i've ever seen.

Victor consistently provided well-articulated insights with historical context that added significant depth to every story, big or small. His blog was a lone ember of truth and reality, a rare find in the vast media landscape over the past 16 years.

I am deeply grateful for Victor's dedication and his ability to enlighten and entertain without fail. His work was a gift of knowledge, humor, and light.

Sad to say goodbye, but Fair Winds and Following Seas, Victor. May you be blessed in Heaven.

PS. who here could take all of his commentary works and build out a Victor LLM? ;)

So Sad. Victor had a clarity of thought rarely matched. RIP Victor.

You were, for many years, a great provider for alternative news and conservative opinion. I will say, the last four years, Victor faltered somewhat and his opinions became heavily influenced from heavy bias sources which has diluted the quality of the news from this blog. A shame.

Anonymous said...

@12:07 PM what do you mean here? It's not as if Victor controlled any policy direction for governing entities.

Whether you like what he said or dislike, he tended to reflect the realities of geopolitics… he was very predictive. I'm taking a swing at what you might have disliked, but I imagine it was relative to the Ukrainian conflict.

If you took a ledger of his opinions, he reliably predicted truth and mowed through prevailing messaging. There was/is no shortage of pundits who reflected a different point of view if you were really wanting to hear something different.

And 12years later. RIP. I am heartbroken

Hans Persson said...

I'm talking about what people call "UFO's". He told me that in Russia this is a big thing. I had no idea. He promised me a lengthier reply, but...

Now when China also is up there, the big "secret" isnt going to stay hidden for long. Russia and the "US" had an understanding. But now I guess a disclosure is coming in mandarin-style.

Its called the "Phenomena" because it's not "greys" from outer space like in the pop culture. It's way more mystical.

I know, crazy talk ;) But I like all kinds of weird subjects.

Mr Nobody said...

Hans

No, no worries and not crazy.

......when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?"

We shall see.

The problem is we ( the common people) have only begun the thesis, anti-thesis , synthesis of this study on UFOs and their origin. What the governments know, they do not say.

I have read the "other". explanations of UFOs. The possibility that these are inter-dimensional creatures, or [possibley demons, that being a malevolent supernatural entity.

Who knows, we certainly do not. And the truth is only now coming out....after hundreds of years of speculation and at least 70 years of total denial by world governments.

But what exactly are we dealing with? That is a question.

Like another weird question...why did the Vatican build a Telescope observatory in Arizona years ago?

That is odd too.

Anonymous said...

Hans, I've been feeling so strongly about the idea that for a lot of us, Victor was a lone ember of thoughtful analysis in the vast flood of noise and propaganda for almost 2 decades… thank goodness that over the past 5 years, there has been a slow but steadfast growth of independent voices, torch bearers who are advocating freedom of speech, and cultural sentiment that is rejecting the beating drums of corporate reporting. I look at Victor as an information lifeboat that delivered his readers to this moment. I think platforms like X and the like are the new places that I will spend the hours per week I spend with WNU editor.

Anonymous said...

I'm concern about this man, Mr blogger!

Hans Persson said...

@Mr. Nobody

The Vatican is heavily involved in this, yes.

From what I've have gathered, there are 2 scenarios here:

1. This goes along with Chris Bledsoe, Diana Walsh Pasulka, Jacques Vallée, Gary Nolan etc etc. I really hope its this one. (Mythical, flying orbs, always been here etc)

2. The dark one that Tucker Carlson mentioned recently. I really, really hope its not this one. (the classic greys with flying saucers etc, it's really dark and not fun at all)

Or I'm delusional. That's a strong possibility.

Mr Nobody said...

Not delusional. You, as well of the rest of us, do not have sufficient information to make an informed decision or even a fact based postulation on the subject at hand. That is the problem.

We know these things are out there. That is about it. What they are and what they are composed of is pure speculation at this point.

If we do not even know those basic facts, how can we determine their intentions or "plans" concerning their relationship with the human race? We cannot.

At this point, caution and even a bit of is fear is not only expected, but probably wise. Are we dealing with friend or foe? Or maybe a intelligence who does not care, totally ambivalent to us such as we are to ants or the blades of grass.

Strangest thing about this is how much ostracized Victor was with his family, it seems. The only ones leaving messages on his memorial page are the blog readers. There's been a few comments here who claim to have spoken to Victor's brother, or someone close to him.

And yet apparently he kept this blog a secret from them, which is quite possible even for a well-known blog.

As he himself claimed before, a lot of his family and friends did not take kindly to some of his views. I can see why, honestly.

Anonymous said...

I started as a fan, but ended up disliking the man since the war began. He had strong views. I'd never call him deluded, but the man was a strong supporter of Putin, and his views on the conflict largely lined with Russia. He was not pro war, but he certainly favoured an outcome and it wasn't Ukraine.

Some people ha d called him a humanist. He absolutely wasn't one of these. It's far easier to speak well of the dead than I'll, but this is the truth.

He was a complicated man.

Hans,

It is going to be ugly. There is so much that could happen. But I will say this for us in the USA, I feel we are surely doomed. No one, no one , is going to accept the results of our next election. If Biden wins. those who support Trump will scream cheating and go nuts.

If Trumps wins, the biden faction of progressive liberals will never accept Trump as a president.

Our elites in this United States have painted the population in a box. Any way you cut this, it will be conflict and it might become a full blown war.

So if WW3 starts before that, It will be part of the Blob plan.

Take care

Sadly youre right, I think the left with Biden will go full Stalin on your asses. When that happens there will be a second civil war, probably right after the election. You guys have royally fucked up and the rest of the idiots in Europe will follow. I'm still waiting for the internet to shut down any day soon.

Hopefully I'm wrong. Good luck all, remember to download survival guides and PRINT them on paper, after the first EMP hits there is no use for phones and apps or whatever.

The War Zone

The War Zone — also known by the shorthand TWZ — has become an essential resource for the defense industry, the national security community, and the interested public at large since it was launched in 2016.

From its early beginnings to the present day, TWZ’s purpose remains the same.

The site stands at the nexus of military technology, strategy, and foreign policy. As a full-spectrum defense news and analysis website, TWZ covers the air, sea, land, space, and cyber domains of warfare, with an infusion of geopolitical context and technological analysis to offer readers deeper, yet easy-to-consume, insights than what they will find anywhere else.

TWZ’s pioneering use of open-source intelligence is a key facet of the site’s reporting, especially on global conflicts and international technological developments.

The site’s overarching goal is to make topics that can be extremely complex, deeply technological, and intertwined with threads that can span the national security ecosystem, not just understandable but as fascinating to the reader as we find them. TWZ’s unique editorial voice and writing style has been honed to accomplish this very challenging objective over many thousands of articles.

TWZ is run by a highly motivated and agile editorial team, along with a curated group of contributors, who have an absolute passion for the subject matter and a deep understanding of the topics covered.

Originally launched in partnership with The Drive, TWZ began operating as a stand-alone media brand in January 2024 under its new web address TWZ.com.
