Hong Kong is set for a long hot summer of discontent as it braces itself for more protests and tensions­ are flaring between Hong Kongers over “Lennon Walls” springing up all over the city.

Named after John Lennon — who inspired a wall of protest in Prague in the 1980s — Hong Kong has become a new centre of “Lennon Walls”, which are covered­ in coloured post-it notes, along subway tunnels and walkways and near railway stations, supporting the protest movement.

Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam this week declared that the legislation to allow for extradition from Hong Kong to mainland China was “dead” and offered to sit down with the protesters and hear their arguments.
