Will Mail-In Voting Turn U.S. Election Day Into Election Week?

VOA/AP: Will Mail-In Voting in US Turn Election Day Into Election Week?

A shift to mail voting is increasing the chances that Americans will not know the winner of November's presidential race on election night, a scenario that is fueling worries about whether President Donald Trump will use the delay to sow doubts about the results.

State election officials in some key battleground states have recently warned that it may take days to count what they expect will be a surge of ballots sent by mail out of concern for safety amid the pandemic. In an election as close as 2016's, a delayed tally in key states could keep news organizations from calling a winner.

"It may be several days before we know the outcome of the election," Jocelyn Benson, Michigan's Democratic secretary of state, said in an interview. "We have to prepare for that now and accept that reality."

What Democrats are telling us is that over a period of 3 or 4 election cycles they can only remain relevant, if they cheat at the polls and bring in more poor people.

Mass mail in voting may have merit. It js already used on limited scales. We would need to study the issue carefully. It would probably be a good idea to start small, say a small community, work on it from there, then go statewide, and when the kinks are worked out take it national.

This would likely take some time. I wouldn't envision anyway we could be ready for this in 6 months. To use an analogy, to become a doctor requires taters of study. There is no such thing as the instant doctor that is competent.

Anyone suggesting that that nsuk in voting on a national level either is a non serious person or they ulterior motives IMHO. Finally, COVID-19 is not a threat to the overwhelming majority. To use this as an excuse for nSs mail in balloting would be disingenuous. I do believe wsys could be found to accommodate those at risk while the rest of us for the most part should be expected to vote in person while presenting valid identification.

If the dimz support it there will be corruption. The only question is how much. The people are not part of the equation. Democrat support for mail in votes is about getting back into power, pure and simple.
I apologize obamma supporters, but there is no other way to perceive what is behind their faux altruism after the 8 year legacy of obamma and his administration.

Our military uses absentee voting and MAILS in ballots...good enough for them good enough for all

Some citizens, such as people serving in the military who are away from their permanent home on Election Day, their families, or U.S. citizens who are living abroad, have special voting rights and ways to register to vote. These people have the choice of either requesting a mail-in absentee ballot the same way as other registered voters, or they can apply to register and/or vote through special programs for military and overseas voters as described below.

The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) is a federal law that requires states to allow certain voters who are absent from their county of residence to have special rights that provide an expedited means for them to register and vote by mail-in absentee ballot. In order to qualify under the provisions of UOCAVA in this state, a voter must be a legal resident of North Carolina. Citizens covered by UOCAVA include:

I apologize for the typos. "Taters" in the second paragraph should have been "decades." My eyesight is poor and occasionally "autocorrect" trips me up.

The first sentence in the third paragraph should have read as follows. "Anyone suggesting that mail in voting can be ready on a national level in 6 months is either a non serious person or they have ulterior motives IMHO." I was distracted at that point. There are also misspellings in the third paragraph but I do believe the intent is clear. Again, I apologize for the errors.

Poster: you are simply wrong. Our country, unlike yours, is not talking about a change for all states

Anon 10:20AM,

You are comparing apples to oranges. Military members' mail is much more secure to outside interference.
I am assuming you have read a number of recent press items telling of ballots to some areas where the ballots outnumber the registered voters.
I am assuming you have read accounts of California ballot practices that are lightly controlled, if at all. I am referring to what is called "motor voting", I believe, used in the last presidential election.
Accounts of ballots being delivered to apartment complexes in Nevada and laying unclaimed.

There are others.

You were replying to Fred, I think. There are many 'tells' in his writing and non-writing style. He absolutely will not change his mind unless his tribe does so first.

Lapides' thinking is very glossy, but not very deep.
