Is Crime Exploding In New York City?

Zero Hedge: NYC Sees 400% Jump In Shootings As Undercover Unit Disbanded

As the NYPD disbands its undercover investigations unit, taking hundreds of crime-spotting undercover officers off the streets (a decision that will almost certainly lead to fewer low level arrests, but also leaves an opening for more serious crime to make a comeback), it appears one of the most closely followed crime metrics in NYC has skyrocketed compared with the same period last year.

According to stats released by the department, the number of shootings reported in NYC over the past week hit 55, compared with just 12 during the same period last year. That's a nearly 5-fold rise.

WNU Editor: I have a lot of friends who live in New York city and outside the five boroughs.  Most of them are progressives, and I am always asking for their opinion. On this issue, they believe the police should be substantially reduced/de-funded. And as for the explosion of crime, they are all blaming President Trump for this crisis.

Funny how Democrats say republicans are stupid mouth breathers while they live in the worst cities

Chicago - Democrat run
NYC - D
Baltimore - D
Detroit - D
Seattle - D
SF - D

So if you want to pay more taxes AND have tons of crime and racial division it seems like you have to vote Democrat and for some reason that - so they believe - is the smart thing to do

Also isn't it weird that while the US is under attack by a virus from China, they roll on their backs instead of standing up to China? Is it some kind of Stockholm syndrome? Or do they really think everyone critical of China most be a xenophobe? It is puzzling.

You have dumb friends WNU editor; they drink cool aid and cost us tax payers millions if not billions with their dumb antics. Try telling them to solve their problems instead of blaming someone and watch what happens.

all of the righteous thinking people will have nothing to do with any city that has a Democratic mayor..who needs Chicago, L.A., San Fran, NY etc
what do they offer to our country. We have all the arts, humanities, science, elite universities and hospitals in trailer parks and in the boonies.

Well...at least they acknowledge there is a difference. And, of course....conveniently forget some one named Gulianni(sp?) and his impact on the crime rate.
Why is it some generations and people have to be taught how to boil water?

5 Reasons to visit the big city

Natural History Museum
Science Museum
Art Museum
Aquarium
Large Zoos

Liberals have attacked them all. I can find a great aquarium now outside of a Democrat Occupied Mega City.

Zoos, Aquariums, Art Museum and natural History Museums have all been attacked by liberals and while they have not yet succeeded they keep coming back.

With the internet and other stuff, do we really need to visit the Science or Natural History Museum anymore?

What does that leave you with? The Art Museum.

Each one of those places are worth a day trip during a weekend for a family. So a family might spend 5 days over a 20 year period when the kids are growing up.

5 days. If you double or triple it, you are talking about 10 to 15 days. Is that enough to keep these Museums going?

Those day trips are expensive. Gas is higher. Parking is higher. Food is higher. Crime is higher. You are exposed to racism from Democrat Party constituents.

Movie theaters are having a hard time with Corona. With the Internet and big screens might museums have hard time like movie theaters?

If it were not for school day trips along with families taking their kids to these museums, would these museums survive? With Corona will schools be making day trips?

Just what do you think that you have there parrot?

Can you think for yourself? Just once?

I am pleased that WNU editor has captured the mood of the NYC METRO area by calling his friends. What crap!
