Twitter And Facebook Remove A Video Of President Trump Saying That Children Are 'Almost Immune' From Covid-19

Daily Mail: 'The President was stating a fact': White House attacks Facebook and Twitter for 'flagrant bias' after they removed video of his interview claim that children are 'almost immune' from Covid-19

* Trump had uploaded a video to Facebook of an interview with Fox News in which he falsely stated that children are ‘almost immune' from COVID-19
* ‘They have much stronger immune system than [adults],’ Trump said in the video, which the account for his presidential campaign also tweeted
* The Trump campaign has accused Facebook and Twitter of displaying 'flagrant bias' against the president, saying he was 'stating a fact' in the shared video
* Facebook said the president's post was removed for violating the social media platform's 'policies around harmful COVID misinformation'
* The move was followed by Twitter a short while after, which announced it has ordered Trump's campaign account to remove a post featuring the same video
* Twitter said the account will be banned from tweeting until the post is removed

Donald Trump's press secretary accused Silicon Valley of 'flagrant bias' after Facebook took down a post from the President's personal page for making claims about children and coronavirus.

Trump had uploaded a video of an interview he gave to Fox News on Wednesday, in which he claimed children are ‘almost immune' to COVID-19.

'The President was stating a fact that children are less susceptible to the coronavirus,' Trump's deputy national press secretary Courtney Parella said in an emailed statement.

'Another day, another display of Silicon Valley's flagrant bias against this President, where the rules are only enforced in one direction. Social media companies are not the arbiters of truth.'

A spokesperson for Trump's campaign also leveled similar accusations of bias against Twitter.

'The Twitter employee who announced why the account was briefly suspended is also Kamala Harris’s former press secretary. Silicon Valley is hopelessly biased against the President,' the spokesperson said, according to Breaking911.

Update #1: Twitter and Facebook Block Trump Video, Citing Covid Misinformation (Bloomberg)
Update #2: Facebook and Twitter sanction Trump for post claiming kids are ‘virtually immune’ to coronavirus (Politico)

WNU Editor: Children have done remarkably well when it comes to Covid-19. There are very few deaths, and very few hospitalizations. So I can understand why someone would say that children are "almost immune" from Covid-19. But the big concern right now is over worries that children are transmitters of the disease. Unfortunately, it is only now that Science is starting to look at this.

They are certainly not immune, and a child has died from it.

If Biden had said this, you'd go to town on it WNU, but because it's Trump, he gets a pass. You are not all that different to the liberal media.

So you admit the liberal media is biased.

There is information out there on the topic.

There are 74.1 million children in the US. You cannot shut down the schools because 1 child is dead or may die.

You are either stupid, brain dead, or carrying water for the Democrats.

You seem to care so much perhaps you can tell us who that child was. Going further you can tell us, if they had any pre-existing conditions, or morbidities.

Liberals hyped a 17 year old dying in Florida. They left out that she was morbidly obese, had cancer and had an auto-immune disease. It is unknown if the former was cause by the latter 2 conditions. Her passing is sad, but that did not stop liberals from using her death to expound upon their religious belief that HCQ is useless.

40% to 50% of the deaths in the US has been nursing home patients and a lot of those deaths have been due to Democrat governors, so much so that one of them, Cuomo, is hiding the data on nursing home deaths.

More people will die of Democrats malfeasance than will or could die of COVID. People are or will die of cancer, malaria, TB or HIV, because of the Democrat imposed lockdowns. Trump imposed no lockdowns. Democrats did.

Actually a number of commentators have made similar statements to the one nzfr by Trump. The terms I've seen used are things such as "statistically nonexistent" or "almost zero" to describe this. As such, the statement by POTUS is very similar to what has been said by other experts even though they're not the ones favored by the media and Democrats. With that said I would NOT have expressed it the way POTUS or the other experts expressed it.

Had Biden said this instead of Trump I deem it very unlikely that the editor "would go to town on it" as the statement has merit. Of course if you were a regular reader of this site you would know this. Furthermore I deem it unlikely that the video would have been removed had team Biden posted it. Of course they likely wouldn't post something like this as they are conditioned to not deviate from the talking points.

Actually it is not "only now that science is starting to look at this." The Swedes have already studied this. Their conclusions were that the children can and do "test positive" contacting the disease from their parents or grandparents but are generally not speeders and based upon this they concluded it is safe for children to interact with their grandparents and to open schools. Frankly I'd trust the Swedes before I'd trust the frauds that masquerade as experts in the US.

Essentially Trump's statement of "Almost immune" is materially accurate and is similar to "statically zero." These terms are NOT the same as absolute immunity or absolute zero. While the statement is worthy of criticism as perhaps being insensitive, it does not rise to rhe level of being worthy of censorship. IMHO the "experts" and media pundits who push duch draconian methods undercut their positions. Their arguments are weak and the only option a weak argument that can't scrutiny has is to shut down opposing points of view through nefarious ways such as censorship.

It is very clear to any rational person that anyone who gets it, if symptoms do not show, that person can still pass it on. That is why school buses are dangerous. Kid gets it. Goes home. Parents might get it...not very difficult to figure out...no need to dance around to protect a dump statement

5:21 "no need to dance around to protect a dump statement" excellent advice you should take it.

They also said kids do not transmit it much at all. Parents of kids usually under 60 and in lower risk groups.

Now we can believe a brain dead, partisan parrot of we can believe a bunch of doctors.

Where I live kids are not going to school, but the visit each other's houses every day. So there really is no quarantine anyway.

Several Western European countries will be sending kids back to school on time in the fall. Meanwhile Democrats and foaming at the mouth hacks can only see November 3rd. We know there is a place in Hell reserved for these dishonest, avaricious people.

I would submit that 5:21 is not a rational person, but a rationalizing person and that very good at that either.

Children aren't totally immune from drowning. Do you propose swimming in pools be banned?

swimming in pools is NOT a pandemic moron
a kid drowns does not mean he passes on his drowning to others...try grade school

Fred follow the science.

Very few kids pass COVID onto anyone. That is what most scientists are saying now. I have not heard anything to the contrary. One fact is that the cells of children do not have as many receptors of the type needed for the virus to latch onto.

At the end of the day, if there is more deaths of children not going to school than going to school, they should go to school.

By May Day of next year people will compare European nations where children went to school with the various America states and school districts. The science will not support you. neither will the polls at that point.

I suspect that engineering professors will not even entertain the notion of visiting you for small talk. They go by numbers. You go by emo and Dem TPM.

And now Trump has denied that COVID-19 can be transmitted to, sicken, and even kill children. Fortunately social media platforms are beginning to wise up:

For the first time, both Facebook and Twitter acted to remove content shared by the campaign to re-elect President Donald Trump from their platforms, citing policies against spreading false claims about COVID-19.

Both the @TeamTrump campaign Twitter account and the official Donald Trump Facebook account shared a video late yesterday in which Trump claimed children are immune from the novel coronavirus. The video was a clip from an interview in which the president spoke by phone with Fox & Friends hosts about schools reopening this fall. “My view is that schools should be open,” Trump said. “If you look at children, children are almost—and I would almost say definitely—but almost immune from this disease. So few, they’ve got stronger, hard to believe, I don’t know how you feel about it, but they have much stronger immune systems than we do somehow for this. They don’t have a problem. They just don’t have a problem. They are virtually immune from this problem.”

COVID-19 may not result in many hospitalizations among children, but we simply do not know how the disease affects them and if the results are long term or permanent. Unlike adult cases there hasn’t been an adequate number of postmortem examinations of children who died of COVID-19, let alone comprehensive follow-up studies given the relative recency of the pandemic.

It’s grossly irresponsible to say children are immune when they do get infected, can become sick, and do spread the virus. From the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Children and COVID-19: State-Level Data Report:

Summary of Findings Reported on 7/30/20:
(Note: Data represent cumulative counts since states began reporting)

Cumulative Number of Child COVID-19 Cases*

338,982 total child COVID-19 cases reported, and children represented 8.8% (338,982/3,835,573) of all cases
Overall rate: 447 cases per 100,000 children in the population

Change in Child COVID-19 Cases, 7/16/20 – 7/30/20

97,078 new child cases reported from 7/16-7/30 (241,904 to 338,982), a 40% increase in child cases

But Trump just doesn’t care to do the right thing, keeping American children safe.

Here is a typical hospital in Florida

Sarasota Memorial Hospital:

Total hospital beds: 839

Today’s patient census: 642

Today’s COVID+ patients total: 70 (no change from yesterday)

It is approximately at 75% capacity.

Notice how Fred Lapides, a.k.a. Edward III, went full histrionic, bold-font emo at 11:17.

If a hospital is consistently at 25% capacity ...it will go bankrupt.

75% capacity is nothing t get hung about.

"Most of the media is irresponsible and alarmist.

They report positive tests as if those equate with people destined for the hospital and then the morgue. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Yes, Covid is a disease and a very small percentage of the population will die if they contract it. But it is not a health crisis that requires shutting down businesses and forcing kids to stay away from school.

It is time for the American people to demand honest reporting and deal with real facts and actual science instead of the voodoo scare tactics being spread by partisan pundits and doctors masquerading as experts."
