The U.S. military covered up 2019 airstrikes in Syria that killed up to 64 women and children, a possible war crime, during the battle against Islamic State, according to a new report.
The two back-to-back airstrikes near the town of Baghuz were ordered by a classified American special operations unit tasked with ground operations in Syria, the New York Times reported on Saturday.
'We just dropped on 50 women and children,' a shocked analyst watching drone footage of the strike in real time told colleagues on a secure chat system.

A number of those 'women' carried arms, which as one person put it blurred the distinction between civilian and combatant.
I do not believe that investigators, principal or others care if a person of any ethnicity was killed. This is political fodder for them. It happened during the Trump administration and that it the reason for the investigation.
Maybe Lloyd can relate to the horrors of war. He was stationed at Indianapolis, Indiana as a recruiter! He should write book and tell us his war stories.
How would the US have lowered casualties of so called noncombatants? Form a cordon and wait them out. That is assuming there are no tunnels or that they cannot exfiltrate out on the ground. Did every man have night vision and were there enough of them to continuously monitor the a cordon sanitaire?
During the Second Chechnyan War the Russian surrounded Grozny and tightened the noose. Fifteen hundred (1,500) jihadis attempted to break out and 600 to 900 actually did. Point is cordon sanitaires do not always work. Those that escape can kill lots of innocent women and children. You know like Kurds, Yazidis and others. Do you know to this day Obama cannot count them or acknowledge their existence. He never let a one of them into the US except by accident.
Maybe Lloyd can consider what happens, when you take the other options. He can consider it after he stops quivering and sobbing.
PS: When the Russians bomb a target in Idlib is the area always clear of civilians? Pristine? Would it be reasonable to colonoscope their ass after each bombing sortie?
