NATO Chief Says Russia Is ‘A Power In Decline’

CNBC: Russia is ‘a power in decline’ but still poses a military threat, NATO chief says

* Ukrainian and Western officials fear a Russian land invasion of its western neighbor, whose Crimean peninsula Russia annexed in 2014.

* Moscow has rejected the notion, pointing the finger instead at what it says is aggression from Ukraine.

Russia may be in economic decline, but it still poses a formidable military threat — particularly in the realm of advanced weaponry and cyberwarfare, NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Thursday.

“Russia is a power in decline, meaning the economic importance of Russia, the GDP is not keeping track with many other countries in the world. But even an economy in decline and a power in economic decline can be a threat and a challenge,” the NATO chief told CNBC’s Hadley Gamble.

WNU editor: I have been hearing the line that "Russia is a power in decline" since the break-up of the Soviet Union 30 years ago.

The only power in decline is the EU and NATO.

NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg FUCKING SOCIALIST DOUCHE

prize winner of many popularity contests. Grew up UMC or UC and lazy. Nowhere near as good as his parents.

Up to 1990, he had regular contacts with a Soviet diplomat. He ended this relationship after being informed by the Norwegian Police Security Service his contact was a KGB agent, warning him of further contact. Stoltenberg's code name within the KGB was "Steklov"

Jens wets his finger and sticks it into the air to see which way the wind is blowing, so he knows whose dick to suck literally or figuratively.

History chock full of empire that experienced a nadir and were reborn like the Neo-Assyrian Empire.

It seems poor Kens is not so good at history. No that schlub was learning is Marxists talking points and then working as a youth pastor(leader of the Workers' Youth League) or as a jorno-list at a newspaper regurgitating them.

Jens could give porn actresses some pointers. Did Steklov always have a smile on his face?

About the Russian Bear. Sure the economy imploded a generation ago. They could not keep up. But Ivan learned a thing or two about economics. They might have state controlled capitalism, but it beats the crony capitalism of the shitheads of the West.

"A power in decline..." if this were to be said about the US, it would be correct. With regards to Russia the editor is spot on and Russia appears to be stronger today than it was 30 years ago. Relatively speaking America is significantly less influential than it was 30 years ago.

I don't think the NATO chief properly understands either himself or his enemy. Sun Tzu astutely taught how that ends.

As for the US, we are a power in decline. This can be reversed and I hope and pray we do!! In order to do this, it will require a frank assessment of our situation along with major course corrections.

Putin’s mental ability dwarfs any head of state in NATO. That is proving to be enough.

Jens Stoltenberg use to report to one of Putin's peers. Putin invites Steklov over for some vodka and Steklov gives Piton the low down on Jens's psyche.
