UK Fighter Jet Shoots Downs 'Hostile' Drone As It Approached American Base With 200 Soldiers In Syria

NBC: U.S. and allies shoot down drone near U.S. base in Syria

A second drone that came near the at base flew away. U.S. officials said they believe the incident and an earlier attack on the base are linked to Iran or Iranian-backed groups.

The U.S. and its military allies shot down a small drone that was believed to be threatening a U.S. outpost in southern Syria Tuesday, just weeks after the same base was attacked by drones and rocket fire.

Capt. Bill Urban, the spokesman for U.S. Central Command, said that two drones or unmanned aerial systems (UAS) were tracked entering the airspace around At Tanf Garrison on Tuesday evening. “As one of the UAS continued its course deeper into the At Tanf Deconfliction Zone, it was assessed as demonstrating hostile intent and was shot down,” Urban said.

A British Typhoon jet shot down the incoming drone, according to a US defense official, using an advanced short-range air to air missile (ASRAAM), becoming one of the first times a heat-seeking air-to-air missile was used in a combat situation to take out a threatening drone.

The second small drone turned and left the area. It is not known if either drone carried any explosives.

Why should Biden respond publicly if there are no deaths. You can make a case that he should. You cab also make a case that he shouldn't less the Iranians set the table by their provocations.

If the British missile cost less than their drone, let the Iranians bleed cash. Governments have fallen that have not paid attention to military and overall expenditures. One example comes to in always. The French. They allied with the Americans out of the desire to weaken the British by helping the 13 colonies succeed. They provided 90% of the gunpowder used by the Colonial Army and other assistance. They also were broke. The American got their Independence and the French ago a change of government less than a decade later.

Yo could argue it was not merely indebtedness and high taxes that caused the overthrow. You could add bad harvests as well. Well the shoe fits there for Iran as well. They have a drought and severe water shortages. It is hard to be an omni present big brother ruthlessly mowing down the masses when ends do not meet in money, food or water.
