The number of countries experiencing more deaths than births in a given year is steadily increasing. An analysis of U.N. data by the Federal Institute for Population Research out of Germany shows that the "natural balance" of births and deaths is declining worldwide, causing aging and even decreasing populations.

Want high population growth or replacement population in your country? Get rid of most immigration.
Without immigrants and job seekers in demand over time, 5 or 10 years, word gets out that if you work, you get ahead and people have babies.

Immigration does not always make you great. It is a not a 1 to 1 relationship. South American countries had substantial immigration and they are not great. Maybe if you had a literacy level above that needed t read a newspaper (6th grade), you might have learned that by now.

The point of the Hawaii example is that land has a carrying capacity. One there are many metropolises that are more expensive than Hawaii. Next consider illegals. The government will pay, so if they end up in California, Hawaii, New York the cost of living does not matter.
The US looks spacious, but when you take into account deserts, mountains, flood plains, etc, there is not as much land as you think. Also there is only so much water available west of the Mississippi. That also hold true for the East Coast. NYC has to go hundreds of miles for its water.
