Vladimir Putin’s war with Ukraine is not going to plan due to Kremlin ‘overconfidence’, poor tactical planning, and ‘shock’ at the fierce resistance put up by brave Ukrainians fighting for national survival, intelligence sources have claimed.
Dramatic video shows a destroyed Russian convoy with Z-markings near Kherson in the south of the country on the third day of fighting after Ukraine’s army held control of Kyiv and last night successfully repelled Russian advances on the capital.
Kyiv’s defence ministry has so far put Russia’s losses at around 2,800 troops, 80 tanks, 516 armoured vehicles, and 10 airplanes and seven helicopters so far.

WNU Editor: No one outside the Kremlin and the top Generals in the Russian military are privy to their plans. And like all war plans, they always change in the first few hours of an invasion. We can only speculate, and in my case WNU has been very clear before the invasion on what the worst case scenario would be if the order was given to invade the country.
Massive destruction. Huge loss of military and civilian life. Up to 5 million refugees fleeing Ukraine. Cities on fire. Hundreds of billions destroyed and lost forever. Russia being a pariah state for the next ten years that will only be repaired when a new Russian leader takes power.
I am 99% sure that President Putin knew that this was the worst case scenario, as well as his Generals, but Putin proceeded anyway because he felt that it was a vital national security concern that Russia needed to act now. And because it is now a vital national security crisis, everything is going to be thrown into the conflict to win it regardless of the cost. And I mean everything.
And my biggest fear.
Russian military doctrine permits the use of tactical nuclear weapons. I am scared to death that they will use these weapons on selected Ukrainian targets if the Kremlin starts to fear that the cost of the Ukraine war is becoming too high.

I've long suspected that the US government will/would use nuclear weapons to protect Hunter or others they deem important. If Russia will do the same to protect whatever interests or perceived dire national security threats with regards to Ukraine, then the situation is much bigger than most pundits seem to realize.
At this point, I am surprised to see the unity among "western" nations with regards to this. Obviously the corrupt Ukrainian government was never going to be granted entry into NATO nor are other European nations going to be keen on antagonizing Russia so barring somethings cataclysmic NATO membership for Ukraine was never going to happen any way.
Threats are being issued to Finland and Sweden not to join NATO. They were never going to join NATO any way. Such threats make no sense. Furthermore in NATO's current state, it's a "paper tiger" wholly incapable of posing any kind of threat to Russia. Even basic defense would be problematic for NATO right now.
By using nuclear weapons Russia would not only encourage the expansion of NATO and not only this but the "alliance" would likely actually develop significant military capability. Assuming the goal is to halt NATO expansion the use of nukes would seem counterproductive. In fact, the invasion itself seems counterproductive in this regard.
Perhaps the empty threat by Zelensky to go nuclear pushed an arrogant and perhaps pathologically insane Russian leadership including Putin over the edge. He is almost 70 as I understand it. Perhaps due to age and the stress of his job he's lost the capacity for rational thought.

True. Frankly it seems to me as though as though the Rusdian pace has been faster than the US and allied pace was. In the "fog of war" it's hard to tell and obviously some information sources are more reliable than others.

So far rhey haven't had to. Based upon a careful observation of the people involved it is my considered opinion that they would if they thought it necessary. Perhaps it's a misread but I don't think so and I'm NOT interested in going to war to protect Hunter or other lewdetshyo class VIPs.
Since I do live and work in the US beung born here and from here, the actions of unstable members of our leadership concerns me. It should concern all of us.
