Ottawa Police Begin Making Arrests

Daily Mail: Trudeau's trucker crackdown begins: Cops start arresting Freedom Convoy protestors on streets of Ottawa after taking leaders into custody as Canada's Parliament suspends vote on prime minister's emergency powers

* Ottawa police said on Friday morning they were beginning a sweep to arrest Freedom Convoy protesters

* Debate in Canada's House of Commons was suspended on Friday in anticipation of the police action

* It delays an anticipated vote that Trudeau needs to continue using powers under the Emergencies Act

* Ottawa Interim Police Chief Steve Bell vowed the protest would come to an end over the weekend

* Cops have imposed a 'secure zone' ringed by 100 checkpoints to cut off demonstrators from support

* On Thursday night, key protest leaders Tamara Lich, 47, and Christopher Barber, 46, were arrested

* Both both charged with counseling to commit the offense of mischief and Barber faces additional charges

Authorities in Canada say they are beginning a sweep to arrest Freedom Convoy truckers who have paralyzed traffic in Ottawa for three weeks in a protest against the country's vaccine mandates.

As dawn broke on Friday, police warned of a 'large police presence' descending on Parliament Hill and said that 'protesters are being advised to leave immediately.'

'Some protesters are surrendering and are being arrested. We ask protesters to remain peaceful and lawful,' Ottawa police said in an alert.
