Canada's Department Of Defense Announces That Removal Of Tampon Dispensers In Men’s Bathrooms “Will Not Be Tolerated”

True North: Removal of tampon dispensers in men’s bathrooms “will not be tolerated,” Defence Department says

The Department of National Defence says it won’t stand for members of the Canadian Armed Forces removing or vandalizing the feminine hygiene fixtures now required in men’s washrooms.

True North has received reports and photos of damaged or removed tampon dispensers and disposal units, which were mandated in all federally regulated male and female washrooms late last year.

One photo shared with True North was said to be taken in a men’s washroom at CFB Trenton, a large air base in central Ontario.

Canadian News Reporter Gets Arrested For Asking Questions To Canada's Deputy Prime Minister

Toronto Sun: Cops ripped for arresting reporter trying to ask Chrystia Freeland questions

He was later released without charges

A reporter was arrested Monday while trying to ask questions of Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland in public.

Freeland, along with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, were in Richmond Hill to commemorate the fourth anniversary of Iran’s military shooting down Flight PS752 as it was bound for Canada via Ukraine.

Everyone on board was killed, including 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents.

WNU Editor: This incident sadly illustrates the state of freedom of the press in Canada.

It is clear from the above video that this Police officer overreacted, and if he acted alone he should definitely not be on a security detail. And if he was following orders to stop this news reporter from asking questions .... well .... that should concern everyone.

But there is actually a bigger story behind this incident.

Canada's main stream news media is heavily supported and subsidized by the Federal Government. Has this impacted news media coverage of the Trudeau government .... in my opinion it definitely has. I first noticed this change in coverage about 3 to 4 years ago after the Trudeau government announced a massive bailout package for Canada news media .... Journalists question Liberal government's $600M media bailout plan (CBC News).

Basically .... every main stream reporter in Canada now owes a good chunk of his salary to the generosity of the Trudeau government. And this government support is growing .... Feds could subsidize half of Canadian journalist salaries following Google agreement (True North).

Fortunately, Canada does have a vibrant and active independent news media presence that is not supported with funds from the Federal government. Rebel News is one of them, and they cover news stories that the main stream media chooses to ignore.

As for Rebel News reporter David Menzies. His style of asking questions reminds me on how 60 Minutes did their reporting a few decades back, albeit far more milder than how Mike Wallace and what his colleagues did when they went after a story and/or questioned a person with the cameras rolling.

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau Accuses The Opposition Party Of Being Against Christmas While Claiming 'We Stand With Christmas'

WNU Editor: I live in Canada. All that I can say is that my friends who still support Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau want no discussion of the Prime Minister or on Canadian politics during the Christmas season.

Canada To Cut Its Defense Budget

CBC News: Federal government looking to cut $1 billion from National Defence budget

Just weeks ago, government endorsed NATO pledge to hit 2 per cent spending benchmark.

The Liberal government is looking to cut almost $1 billion from the annual budget of the Department of National Defence (DND) — a demand the country's top military commander says is prompting some "difficult" conversations within the military.

Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre and Deputy Minister of Defence Bill Matthews testified before the House of Commons defence committee late Thursday, where they acknowledged in more detail the ramifications of the federal government's spending reduction plan.

Canada To Impose More Restrictions On Free Speech

CBC: CRTC registration for podcasts and streaming companies draws criticism

News that online streamers and podcasters will soon be required to register with Canada's broadcasting regulator is raising confusion and concerns that heavier regulation may be coming.

Late Friday afternoon, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announced that online streaming and podcasting services operating in Canada with $10 million or more in annual revenue in this country, will have to register with it before Nov. 28.

WNU Editor: Independent news groups and organizations in Canada is my go to place for news that I know the mainstream media will not cover. Rebel News (link here) and True North (link here) are two such places and IMHO it is these groups that the Federal Government wants to regulate. The above tweet from Elon Musk is spot on.

Why Is There A Cemetery Monument In Canada Honoring A German Nazi Waffen SS Unit Accused Of Committing Genocide?

It was later learned that Hunka served with a Nazi unit during the war. Photo by Patrick Doyle / The Canadian Press

* Canada's parliament accidentally applauded a 98-year-old Nazi veteran on Friday.
* The gaffe rekindled calls for a monument honoring his unit to be removed from a Canadian cemetery.
* Yaroslav Hunka served in the 14th Waffen SS Division, a voluntary unit of mostly Ukrainians.

The Canadian parliament's standing ovation for a Ukrainian war veteran who turned out to be a former fighter for Nazi Germany has reignited calls to take down a monument honoring his unit.

Yaroslav Hunka, 98, who served in the voluntary 14th Grenadier Division of the Waffen SS, was applauded as a war hero by Canadian leaders on Friday without them realizing he actually fought in a Nazi unit.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has since apologized for the gaffe, calling it "deeply embarrassing."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was visiting Canada's parliament at the time of the standing ovation.

WNU Editor: Living in Canada I can tell you this story is just the tip of the iceberg. Canada opened the door to thousands of Nazi veterans like Yaroslav Hunka after the Second World War war, and they have lived extremely well in Canada. And over the years through social events and friends I have met some of these former Ukrainian Nazis, and you can take this to the bank ..... they have certainly not abandoned their ideology nor what they did during the war. In fact, because of the war, they are now crawling out of the woodwork (like Yaroslav Hunka) for what they did during the Second World War.

So what is next?

It has now been a week since the Canadian Parliament gave a rousing standing ovation for this "former" Waffen SS soldier, and the impact is still being felt. The Canadian media and Canada's political class are trying their best to bury this story, and the media "gymnastics" on what they are trying to do is quite a sight to see.

The best one are questions from reporters and the pundit class on if (and when) Prime Minister Trudeau is going to call/talk to Ukraine President Zelensky to apologize for this event. The standard response has been that Canada has already apologized through "diplomatic" channels. But I know the real reason why this issue is not going to be brought up directly with the Ukrainian President. The fact is that Zelensky and his staff all knew who and what Yaroslav Hunka and his comrades did during the Second World War, and for many of them they view him as a hero. I am even now reading some pro-Ukrainian blogs who want to invite Yaroslav Hunka to Ukraine to receive recognition for what he did during the Second World War. Canadians may be completely ignorant on World War 2 history, but everyone is Ukraine is not.

On a personal note. My father fought against Germany in the Second World War for the Soviet Army. Being Russian - Ukranian he particularly hated pro-German Ukrainian units like the the 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS - also known as the Galicia Division - that was formed in 1943. In his home town of Bila Tserkva a third of the population of 100,000 was Jewish, and they were all exterminated by units like the Galacia Division when they went through the city (Wikipedia link here). And then there is the involvement of these pro-Nazi Ukrainian units in Germany's extermination camps. But that is another story for another time. My blood pressure is high enough as it is with what I have seen and heard this past week.

OTTAWA, Ont. — A ranking Canadian parliamentarian is apologizing to Jewish communities around the world for a blunder during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit that led to lawmakers honoring a veteran accused of belonging to a Nazi division in WWII.

It followed demands by Canadian Jewish organizations Sunday for an apology after it was revealed members of Parliament across party lines awarded a 98-year-old veteran on Friday with a standing ovation shortly after Zelenskyy addressed Canada’s House of Commons.

Yaroslav Hunka stood and appeared to salute from the public gallery when he was recognized by House Speaker Anthony Rota, who introduced Hunka as a Canadian-Ukrainian war hero from his political district.

Is There Growing Dissension In Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's Government?

On July 26, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau undertook the biggest revamp of his cabinet since coming to power in 2015. About 80 per cent of ministers were affected by the shuffle in some way. Trudeau promoted seven backbench MPs to replace seven ministers four of whom were not re-offering while three others were dropped. The Hill Times photograph by Andrew Meade

The Hill Times: Some backbench Liberal MPs ‘livid’ with Trudeau’s cabinet shuffle, say PMO ‘couldn’t have done a better job at undermining caucus morale’

It’s not unusual for passed over MPs to be unhappy after a cabinet shuffle, says senior government relations consultant Greg MacEachern.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing a serious blow black for the July 26 cabinet shuffle from some passed-over Liberal MPs who believe the promotions of seven backbench colleagues to the front bench were not merit-based, and the PMO “misjudged and misplayed the whole thing completely.”

“I am livid,” said one Liberal MP who spoke to The Hill Times in a not-for-attribution basis in order to share their candid views, and to shed some light on what’s going on behind the scenes. “It makes no sense whatsoever why Scarborough has to have two ministers is truly unreal, why Newfoundland has to have two ministers is truly unreal. … This is a prime minister who keeps doubling down, this tokenism is ridiculous. It’s ridiculous, and I’m sick and tired of everything being about their friends, and their insiders. Screw them. I am so pissed off.”

Trudeau 'Losses It' After Being Asked Why Canada Has Not Offered A Peace Proposal To End The Russia - Ukraine War

Zero Hedge: Watch: Trudeau Loses It After Being Asked A Simple Question About Seeking Peace In Ukraine

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been holding cross-country town halls for the past many weeks, while presenting himself as a "man of the people"—as these events are giving ordinary Canadians a rare chance to ask him unvetted questions. But apparently you'd better ask the "right" questions, or else he'll blow up and attack you personally as the questioner. A new clip has surfaced of a recent exchange centered on a very legitimate question from an audience member about Ukraine, and Canada's refusal to push for peace.

Prominent Canadian political commentator Stephen McIntyre presented the town hall video on Twitter, while providing the following context to the back-and-forth between audience member "Michael" and PM Trudeau:

There Is "No Limit" On Number Of Ukrainian Refugees To Be Allowed Into Canada

Zero Hedge/Epoch Times: "No Limit" On Number Of Ukrainian Refugees To Be Allowed Into Canada: Federal Memo

With 230,000 Ukrainians having already emigrated to Canada to flee the war, a recently disclosed internal memo from the Immigration Department says there is “no limit” on the number of Ukrainian war refugees that can be allowed into Canada.

The government closed applications on July 15 for Ukrainian refugees looking to obtain temporary emergency visas and free flights to Canada, but about 1.1 million Ukrainians applied for visas prior to the deadline—of which about 800,000 had been approved as of the beginning of July.

“There is no limit,” said a Department of Immigration memo sent to the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs and obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter.

WNU Editor: Regular readers of this blog know that I have been helping Ukrainian refugees settle in Canada since the start of the war. I have been often asked how many have I helped. To be honest. Aside from helping two cousins and their families as well as a dozen friends, I lost count a long time ago.

I have also been asked if any of them want to go back to Ukraine when the war is over. That is an easy question to answer. No one wants to give up their Canadian status. In fact. When the war is finally over I predict another massive influx of Ukrainian refugees to Canada, and almost all of them will be military-aged males who will then be permitted to leave the country and reunite with their family members and loved ones in Canada.

Canada Conducting Hearings To Ban FOX News

CTV News/Canadian Press: Fox News shouldn't air in Canada despite Tucker Carlson ouster, LGBTQ2S+ group argues

TORONTO - An advocacy group that wants the CRTC to ban Fox News says the network's "abusive content" extends beyond its divisive personalities such as recently fired host Tucker Carlson.

Fox News should be banned from Canadian airwaves because it has "repeatedly and regularly" violated broadcasting standards with content that subjects many groups to hate, Egale Canada is arguing in its formal submission to Canada's broadcasting regulator.

The LGBTQ2S+ rights group is dismissing Fox's argument that the application to remove its news network from Canadian cable TV packages is "moot" in the wake of prime-time host Tucker Carlson's ousting in late April.

Pentagon Leaks Reveal Trudeau Told NATO That Canada Will Never Meet Promised Spending Goals

Washington Post: Trudeau told NATO that Canada will never meet spending goal, Discord leak shows

TORONTO — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has told NATO officials privately that Canada will never meet the military alliance’s defense-spending target, according to a leaked secret Pentagon assessment obtained by The Washington Post. The document’s anonymous authors say Canada’s “widespread” military deficiencies are harming ties with security partners and allies.

The document, which has not been previously reported on, says “enduring” defense shortfalls led the Canadian Armed Forces to assess in February that it “could not conduct a major operation while simultaneously maintaining its NATO battle group leadership [in Latvia] and aid to Ukraine” — and that the situation was not “likely” to change without a shift in public opinion.

"I'm taking this extraordinary step because to [sit] in the government caucus is a privilege and my presence there may be seen by some as a conflict of duty and the wrong place to be as an independent investigation pursues the facts in this matter," he said , reading a statement in the House of Commons on Wednesday night.

WNU Editor: This is one of many leaks in the past few months coming from Canada's spy agencies on Chinese influence in recent Canadian elections, and within the Canadian government itself. What is astounding is that Prime Minister Trudeau must have learned about all of these allegations, but choose not to do anything. It is only through these leaks that the public is now getting a glimpse on possible Chinese government interference, and not surprising, we are now finally seeing the government finally acting on it.

Also not surprising. The Trudeau government wants to know who in the intelligence community is leaking this intel to the news media, and have launched a massive investigation to find the leaker/leakers.

Canada To Probe Reports Of Chinese Election Interference

Bloomberg: Trudeau Orders Review of Alleged Chinese Election Interference

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau yielded to pressure over allegations China interfered in Canada’s elections, appointing a special investigator to study the matter.

“Upholding confidence in our democratic process in our elections, in our institutions, is of utmost importance,” the prime minister told reporters Monday evening in Ottawa.

The “independent special rapporteur” will have a wide mandate and make recommendations on fighting foreign meddling, he added.

The issue will also be studied by a group of lawmakers cleared to see top-secret intelligence, Trudeau said.
