National Post: 'This could cost him his job': A blockaded Canada turning on Trudeau, poll finds

'The last time I've seen numbers close to this were in the final days of Brian Mulroney,' says Maru pollster

As Freedom Convoy marks its second week entrenched in the Canadian capital, a new poll is providing some of the clearest evidence yet that this affair could end up dealing a catastrophic blow to the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Although Canadians sympathize with the anti-mandate demands of Freedom Convoy, they increasingly hate the protests themselves. A new Maru Public Opinion poll found that 56 per cent of Canadians don’t have an iota of sympathy for Freedom Convoy — and two thirds wouldn’t mind seeing their blockades cleared by military force.

On the other hand, 54 per cent of Canadians who participated in this poll believe that people taking part in the protests do not “deserve any of our sympathy” and that what they “have said and done is wrong.”

“It’s not that people are tired. They’re very frustrated,” Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos public affairs told Global News. “And what’s happened is that this protest has become a lightning rod for that frustration.”

Bricker said the results of the poll show that Canadians don’t necessarily agree with the blocking of Parliament Hill in Ottawa or the Nazi imagery popping up in some protests, but most are frustrated with the COVID-19 mandates.

“Canada has one of the highest levels of vaccination, so Canadians have listened and complied…yet we’re still stuck.

Trudeau and the Liberals don’t have to call an election for years

Propaganda outlets will print the truth when it suits their purpose or occasionally so they can point to it in the future and claim they are truth tellers.

3:36 try to keep in persona. Your writing style changed troll.

the popularity of PM Blackface of Canada, aka Justine Castro, will rise above 16% since the Canadian corporatist media will slobber all over him so much that new rivers will be formed.

But it is usually going to stay below 50%. Long run most people will support the truckers. This will be especially so as more people learn about COVID and viruses in general in the future.

You screwed the pooch dude. You lied. You overplayed your hand and you hurt people. You are just a dumb bastard. At least you have that in common with Justine. Still Justine knows who her daddy is unlike you.

My understanding is that Trudeau has a minority government. He is governing only at the tolerance of the other parties who have a majority. His government only has 159 votes in a parliament of 338. The Tories, BQ, and NDP could easily pass a vote of no confidence and remove Trudeau. That does not need to lead to a new election, but could lead to a new PM and a change in certain policies. But if the Liberals were to fall from 33 to 16% from the last election, why wouldn't the other parties want a new election?

I don’t know Canadians well enough to make a judgment on their level of support for the Freedom Convoy, but the truckers can end up losing what support they do have if they keep at it too long. Their best bet is something heavy handed from the limp wrist of Comrade Trudeau.

Limp wrist? Just because Pierre was gay or bisexual does not mean Justin is. Besides Pierre is not Justin Castro's father.

But I agree with the premise of your comment, where ports of entry are concerned.

Not blocking streets in Ottawa but staying camped out is not going to lose them popularity.

Limp as in effete, not as in effeminate.

I'll buy that. He did run and hide last week. Miraculously he is cured of COVID without the traditional waiting period.
