Boris Johnson insisted he would be irresponsible to quit tonight despite looking increasingly doomed - with claims Michael Gove is among those telling him to quit.
Giving evidence to the powerful Liaison Committee, the PM insisted 'of course' he will still be in office tomorrow, and dismissed the idea the government is wracked by inertia as 'nonsense'.
Asked how his week was going in one extraordinary exchange, Mr Johnson quipped: 'Terrific.'
