CNN: CNN Exclusive: US intelligence suggests Russia put off announcing Kherson retreat until after midterm elections

The US has intelligence that Russia may have delayed announcing its withdrawal from the Ukrainian city of Kherson in part to avoid giving the Biden administration a political win ahead of the midterm elections, according to four people familiar with the intelligence.

Senior Russian officials discussed the US midterms as a factor during deliberations about the withdrawal announcement, one person familiar with the intelligence said. Waiting until after the US election was always a “pre-planned condition” of Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson, a second person familiar with the intelligence told CNN.

WNU Editor: Russia made its intentions very clear weeks ago when General Surovikin was appointed to coordinate Russian military operations in Ukraine. He said hard decisions will need to be made in the coming weeks, and he even mentioned the Kherson district. After that Russian authorities removed the remains of Russian Prince Grigory Potemkin, the founder of Kherson, two weeks ago .... Russia removes bones of 18th-century commander revered by Putin from occupied Ukrainian city (CNN), and then told residents they if they want to leave, now was the time to do it. And much of the population did leave. If that is not a sign that Russian forces were going to leave, I then do not know what is.

But CNN is ignoring the bigger question. Did US authorities push Ukraine for a significant battlefield victory before the US midterms to show the American public that the US effort in Ukraine is worth it. I know that my sources in Kyiv are telling me that the U.S. did just that.

You nailed that one.

CNN and its "intel sources" are Always suspect. Wolf Blitzer..."uboat commander" is just about worthless with the rest of his crew.

I do not doubt the Americans at the highest levels pressured the Ukrainians to attack. How do you hide an operation? By saying the other side did it. Standard fare in the propaganda war. Example: Nord Stream pipe line disaster.

At this point, with the war going "badly" for the Russians, American mid term election results are the last of their calculations/considerations in war planning on the Operational level.

But the Americans? Well, it fits the political elites desire to retain power.

If we have to have a bunch of Ukrainians die to influence the elections.....it was worth it. So says the ghost of Madilyn Albright.

B Poster you are still here! I can tell you went to a workshop. This is a good thing. They are investing in you. You will not be voluntold to volunteer for Wagner!

War is politics by other means. So operations may have political reasons. Operation Torch was executed although it delayed Operation Overlord. the overriding reason was Roosevelt was supporting an ally Churchill. Many people have reasoned that Torch should have been scrubbed so that Overlord could have been launched earlier.

How effective of a ploy was pressuring the UA to get into Ukraine. Maybe not as effective a the college debt forgiveness fiasco. Biden's people know (although Joe might not know himself) that the courts would strike down the the illegal debt forgiveness. the courts have struck it down and they should. But the Democrats Maskirovka against gen Z worked. They helped push the Democrats over the finish line. The proper way to enact debt forgiveness would be to go through congress. The White House Staff knew this but they acted illegally anyway for sake of votes. They also know that they will not be prosecuted for illegal acts.

But about those extra troops UA dying. the rpessure and maintaining contact ensured that Russian troops had to ramain inplace, So extra Russian troops were dying too. If those Russian troops had been allowed to skedaddle or bug out unmolested, more might have escaped to live to fight and kill UA another day.

Keeping up the pressure over a 3 month period might not result in a higher number of UA dying. It is hard to tell.

You don't think that the Russian saved by not being engaged in Kherson would not be redeployed ay in Donestsk to kill Ukrainian troops.

OF course not. You would not think it, but "you would say it", because you are B Poster, the indefatigable Russian troll

Also the UA had an obligation to the partisans behind lines to reach them as soon as possible.

I am sure Joe and others did it for their own skins, but it is impossible to separate it from being the right thing.

The end was near, when Antonovskiy Bridge was blown and b Poster cried. Actually it was up long before that if you know how to read, but B Poster, while indefatigable and shrill, does not know. He is stupid. The fate was especially sealed, when the the barge bridge was also blown up.

CNN btw stands for Clinton News Network or Communist News Network. The Democrats will support Ukraine, because Joe is. So CNN gets canned or not canned it does not matter. On the other side of the aisle no one loves CNN for the last 3 decades. They actually like to see CNN get its junk caught between a door jamb and a slamming door.

In fact Ukraine's number go up by banning Wolf Blitzed of Gulf War infamy.
