U.S. Still Vulnerable To Terrorism -- WMD Report

WMD Report: US Remains 'Dangerously Vulnerable'
-- Yahoo News/AP

WASHINGTON - The United States remains "dangerously vulnerable" to chemical, biological and nuclear attacks seven years after 9/11, a forthcoming independent study concludes. The recent political rupture between Russia and the U.S. only makes matters worse, said Lee Hamilton, the former Indiana Democratic congressman who helped lead the 9/11 Commission and now chairs the independent group's latest study.

Efforts to reduce access to nuclear technology and bomb-making materials have slowed, thousands of U.S. chemical plants remain unprotected, and the U.S. government continues to oppose strengthening an international treaty to prevent bioterrorism, according to the report produced by the bipartisan Partnership for a Secure America.

My Comment: I find the criticism from the Democrats rather revealing ..... it was they who disbanded the Patriot Act, as well as limiting the means for Intelligence Agencies to conduct surveillance on suspected terrorists.

You cannot have it both ways. You cannot disband a centerpiece of security legislation from your opponent, and then blame him for doing nothing. Coupled with not enforcing one's borders, a fault of both political parties in the U.S., one is walking into a disaster. In the past, through the filter of mass media, this type of politics may have worked .... but in today's world this is not going to be successful.

If a terrorist strike occurs on U.S. soil in the future, it will be the Democratic Congress that are going to be roasted for this event, and their blue dog Republican supporters.
