KINSHASA (AFP) – Rebel leader Laurent Nkunda has accused government troops of breaching a delicate truce in the Democratic Republic of Congo's volatile east and urged the United Nations to intervene.

"At the moment of writing, our movement regrets having to state that the government troops have redeployed" along a key axis vacated by rebels in October, he said, adding that "acts of provocation had multiplied."
