EU Piles Pressure For Russia Gas Crisis Talks

MOSCOW (AFP) – Crunch talks between Russia and Ukraine to resolve an energy crisis went on into the night in Moscow on Saturday, as the EU insisted on an immediate resumption of Russian gas supplies to Europe.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Yulia Tymoshenko were holding the first face-to-face talks between the two governments since the start of their crisis on New Year's Day.

"The negotiations could continue all night, until the morning... The talks will continue as long as is needed," Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters at the main government building in central Moscow.
