Tamil Tigers, Advancing Sri Lankan Troops Near Showdown -- Toronto Star
COLOMBO – Sri Lankan troops yesterday seized the last road junction held by the Tamil Tigers, and now have about three kilometres left to capture before reaching an expected showdown in the 25-year war, the military said.
After heavy fighting, soldiers took Puthukkudiyiruppu junction, which is inside the last town the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam control in the island nation.
