21 Americans Seized By Somali Pirates

DUBAI (AFP) — Pirates seized a Danish-owned and US-flagged ship off Somalia on Wednesday with 20 American crew on board, the US Navy and the shipowner said.

"A US-flagged Danish-owned ship was attacked at around 7:30 local time this morning, 240 nautical miles southeast of the Somali town of Eyl," Lieutenant Nathan Schaeffer, a spokesman for the navy's Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet told AFP."

Maersk shipping line said the container vessel Maersk Alabama, belonging to the US subsidiary of Maersk, "was attacked by pirates and presumed hijacked" at around 0500 GMT.

You know this is getting out of hand. I know everyone wants to point fingers and say its not there responsibility. Becuase this happening in the wide open ocean, and its not our territory. But this is costing people world wide billions of dollars and these people a getting more daring about it.

I agree 100% with your comment. I look forward to the day when some pirate ship gets blown out of the water when they attempt a hijacking attempt. Trust me .... on that day I am not going to shed a tear.

I agree this is really getting out of hand. But how can we stop this?
They will just switch ports and start all over again.
