Russia Accuses US On Missile Shield -- Defense Talk

MOSCOW: A top Russian official on Tuesday accused the US administration of President Barack Obama of intensifying missile defense plans and said Russia saw no basis for big cuts in its nuclear arsenal.

In an interview with Interfax news agency, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov revived threats to site Iskander strategic missiles in the Kaliningrad exclave near Poland if Washington's missile shield plans in Europe went ahead.

My Comment: The Russian press is becoming very hostile towards the U.S. and its President .... even more than when President Bush was in power. On the one hand they are eager for improved relations .... but on the other hand they are getting very frustrated over U.S. missile defense plans for Europe. I give President Obama a two to three month window to resolve this .... or at least to come to some form of accommodation and understanding of what should be U.S.- Russian medium to long term objectives.
