Turning Tables, U.S. Troops Ambush Taliban With Swift And Lethal Results

KORANGAL OUTPOST, Afghanistan — Only the lead insurgents were disciplined as they walked along the ridge. They moved carefully, with weapons ready and at least five yards between each man, the soldiers who surprised them said.

Behind them, a knot of Taliban fighters walked in a denser group, some with rifles slung on their shoulders — “pretty much exactly the way we tell soldiers not to do it,” said Specialist Robert Soto, the radio operator for the American patrol.

If these insurgents came close enough, the soldiers knew, the patrol could kill them in a batch.

My Comment: An action report from the ground in Afghanistan. This is a riveting account of a fire fight that is probably happening every night in most parts of the country. My only wish is that the New York Times produces more stories that detail what soldiers are now doing in this long drawn conflict.

now they will be walking with there guns out in front ready to kill.
i can see why they counld not win the iraq war.

even if the people from that village new about it,it does not matter, the world would of talen a ling time to go around afghan.
if they never said anything about it, the people in the village would not of knowen what 100% happend, so they would not no they got ambushed, but now they all now..
