Marines’ New Sorta-Gunship Kills Insurgents, Cheap

“We’re a thoughtful, learning organization,” Marine Corps aviation boss Lieutenant General George Trautman said yesterday during a conference call with reporters.
Case in point: When the Marines boosted their forces in Afghanistan last year, they discovered they didn’t have the kind of on-call air support they needed to deal with pop-up groups of insurgents across a wide battlefield. “Because of the dispersed nature of our force, we suffered some casualties,” Trautman said.

My Comment: The marines always scrimp and scrap by .... if they don't have what they need, they will always jurryrig something to make it go.
