Congressional lawmakers risk endangering the country's security by focusing too much on the alleged missteps of the Bush administration and using the issue to score political points, CIA Director Leon Panetta said Monday.
He said such inquiries, if handled in a hyper-partisan way, could "interfere" with the ability of intelligence agencies to protect the country. Panetta urged Congress not to be distracted from more pressing challenges.

My Comment: I never knew that CIA Director Panetta was an idealist. If he believes that Congress will listen to him and stop attacking officials who work in our intelligence services .... I think I can then sell him the Brooklyn Bridge.
It is the nature of Congress (especially this Congress) to do what is expediently political .... not for what is in the best national security interests of this country. We have definitely reverted to a 9/10 mindset .... where we now focus on our political enemies instead of our true enemies.
CIA Director Panetta has every reason to be concerned .... for he is now seeing the threats and dangers that are out there .... and he is worried.
