Problems With GPS Could Mean Big Problems For The Military

Lawton_That little guidance gadget that so many of us have come to depend on when we travel might go away. We're talking about our global positioning system, or GPS. And what's even worse, its failure could be catastrophic to our national security and military. The Government Accountability Office said finances have kept the Air Force from properly upgrading GPS satellites. They said that could lead to failures and blackouts.

It has woven its way into our everyday lives but, its first applications were strictly military. It was developed by the Air Force in the 1980's and was first widely used by the military during Operation Desert Storm to help mark targets and deliver supplies to troops.

My Comment: The Air Force's public image is one of being unconcern. Hmmmm .... I would be concerned.
