Humanitarian Groups Call For Unrestricted Access To Former Sri Lankan War Zone -- The Guardian

International Committee of the Red Cross still cannot reach area where thousands have been left wounded

Humanitarian groups today called on the Sri Lankan government to grant unrestricted access to the war zone to ensure that any wounded civilians left behind receive urgent care.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has not been able to reach the battle zone where the Tamil Tigers made their last stand since 9 May. The UN has said at least 7,000 civilians were killed and 16,000 wounded in the recent fighting.
