U.S. Arms Firms In Paris Rethink Markets

U.S. defense firms at the 2009 Paris Air Show are vying to win international contracts to help make up for flatter defense spending after years of strong growth.
And while defense program cuts and tighter budgets in the United States are keeping many aircraft in service longer than before, military vendors are counting on reeling in some lucrative contracts for upgraded weapons systems.
Aerospace manufacturers with a strong military presence are especially encouraged by growing overseas markets and a jump in U.S. spending on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
Nevertheless, the United States still accounts for more than 40 percent of the world's military purchases.

My Comment: There is a lot of competition out there. It is no longer a West - East competition, but a "who has the best product at the best price" competition.
