Israel - Egypt Alliance Against Iran?
The mission prompts speculation that Israel sought to send a message about its military might to Iran and give the impression of close cooperation with Egypt against regional security threats.
Reporting from Cairo and Jerusalem -- There's no sneaking a warship through the Suez Canal, so it's best to sail through and remain coy.
Israel has done just that. At least two of its missile-class Saar 5 warships and a Dolphin submarine have sailed through the canal in recent weeks, prompting conjecture about Israel's intentions. My Comment: There was no reason for Egypt to permit these Israeli warships to go through the Suez canal. Israeli - Egyptian relations have been stable and non-controversial for the past number of years. Even with the Gaza war earlier this year, and the Israeli-Hezbolah war 2 years previously .... Egyptian relations with Israel have not altered.
There is more happening here than what we know .... but the impact of permitting these Israeli ships has created a gossip storm with Middle East media pundits now trying their best to ascertain what this all means.
