LAGOS (AFP) – Nigerian rebels took their 'oil war' with the government into Lagos, killing at least five people in their first ever attack on Africa's biggest city, officials said Monday.
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) said the attack had left the oil tanker loading facility in flames. It claim came ahead of a court hearing Monday that was expected to see treason charges dropped against a top MEND leader as part of a bid to defuse the rebellion.
