Is The War Over In Darfur?


U.N. Peacekeeping Chief in Darfur Says War Over -- Wall Street Journal/AP

CAIRO, Egypt -- The outgoing United Nations peacekeeping chief in Sudan's Darfur region said the world should no longer consider the long-running conflict a war after a sharp decline in violence and deaths over the past year.

Activists and Darfur residents disagree, and the comments by Rodolphe Adada heightened anxiety that there will be less international focus on resolving the root problems in the troubled region.

My Comment: I do not believe that the war in Darfur is over. The men who started and continued this genocide are still in power, commanding militias and military units. There has been no accountability .... no responsibility of blame.

As long as the men who committed these atrocities are permitted to roam freely and without consequence, it will only be a matter of time when their evil is unleashed again.
