U.S. Afghanistan Commander's Troops Request Ready -- Reuters

KABUL (Reuters) - The commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan has drawn up a long-awaited and detailed request for additional troops but has not yet sent it to Washington, a spokesman said on Saturday.

He said General Stanley McChrystal completed the document this week, setting out exactly how many U.S. and NATO troops, Afghan security force members and civilians he thinks he needs.

My Comment:There had to be some response from General Stanley McChrystal's office to the recent news reports that the Military was growing impatient with Obama on Afghanistan.

This statement should put down the grumbling in the ranks .... for now. As to what General McChrystal's request will be ..... my guess (and it is just a guess) is that he his going to ask for billions in assistance to build up the Afghan military, and a troop request for an additional 40,000 soldiers.

The objective is to have over 100,000+ U.S. and foreign troops in Afghanistan, and an Afghan Army of 250,000.

My guess is that he will get his troops, but the Democrat Part is going to splinter itself if the fighting escalates even more next year.

I dont think the question is "can" Obama say no as much as its "will" Obama say no.
