When Generals And Presidents Collide, The Commander In Chief Wins

WASHINGTON — It is not clear whether President Obama, the newly named winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, will accept Gen. Stanley McChrystal's plea for tens of thousands more troops in Afghanistan, scale it back, or reject it altogether.
It's also not clear how much McChrystal, the commander of U.S. forces in that country, is in the hot seat for taking his views public.
But one thing is certain: When presidents and generals collide, the generals usually lose.
