Following Explosions In Ulyanovsk, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Dismisses Senior Military Leaders



Russian President Sacks Generals After Deadly Explosions -- CNN

Moscow, Russia (CNN) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev sacked four top generals Tuesday after an explosion at a Navy arsenal killed at least eight bomb disposal experts a day earlier, he announced.

He also ordered the Defense Ministry to consider punishments for two other top military officials in the wake of the disaster.

My Comment: I have posted this story because it symbolizes the many changes that has occurred in Russia in the past few years. 25 years ago such a story would never have been publicized, the accident hushed up, and the incompetents who caused it still in power.

This is not possible in today's Russia. These firings are going to have repercussions throughout the Russian military .... and many in Russia are going to support these changes and the actions of Russian President Medvedev.
