Shooting Incident Strains US Army's Morale

The killing of 13 soldiers at a US army base has dealt a bad blow to a force under strain from years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a rise in suicides.

News that an army psychiatrist, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, allegedly opened fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood in Texas on Thursday came as a shock for an organization that likes to portray itself as a family.

The rampage occurred at a time of stress for an armed service fighting two wars, with commanders struggling to ease the effect of repeated combat tours on troops and their families.

My Comment: The Telegraph tries to explain why Major Nidal Malik Hasan did what he did .... and it fails. In any case, it appears that that Major Hasan will survive ..... and I would wager that he will provide a different reason on why he murdered so many people .... they always do.
