Home Secretary Alan Johnson today defended bonuses paid to civil servants in the Ministry of Defence.

Angry families of British troops killed in Afghanistan hit out as it emerged MoD officials had received performance-related payments totalling £300million.

But Mr Johnson said the MoD staff did 'difficult and sometimes dangerous' jobs which in some cases warranted a bonus.

My Comment: And the U.K. Government wonders why so many U.K. soldiers refuse to re-enlist when their tour of duty is up.
