My Comment: I cannot say that I am surprised. There are only so many drones in the area, so to avoid collisions and general confusion there must be some sharing of information and intelligence.

Is this a major escalation in the conflict .... definitely. I can only presume that President Obama is the one who gave the U.S. Air Force the authority to operate in Pakistani territory .... an order that clearly incorporates Gen. McCrystal's strategy (and the strategy of others) that the road to victory in Afghanistan must first go through Pakistan.

The net impact of this change is obvious .... expect more drone strikes and casualties in 2010.
