U.S. Inspectors Quit Russia Missile Plant As Treaty Ends -- AFP
MOSCOW — US inspectors on Friday ended nearly 20 years of monitoring at Russia's main missile plant, a spokesman for the US embassy in Moscow said, hours before a key nuclear arms treaty was set to expire.
The 20 US arms inspectors, who monitored Russia's compliance with the 1991 START treaty, quit their post at the plant in Votkinsk, about 580 kilometres (360 miles) northeast of Moscow, the spokesman said.
"They have already left. They left today," he told AFP.
