WNU Editor: For the past week I have been staying at my family's chalet in the Laurentians of Quebec, and I have been posting and doing my web work from here. Unfortunately, due to maintenance from the electrical company, I now have no electricity and I will not able to post today. Regular posting (if God is permitting) should be restored tomorrow.
Update: Eureka .... it is 23:00 EST and my electrical power has finally been restored. In all the years that I have been blogging, this is the first time that I could not blog at any of the sites that I either contribute or edit. Frustration .... that does not even come close to how I felt today.
But on the bright side, with no internet access or power to do anything, I did have the opportunity today to ski a bit, take a few long walks, use my barbecue outside and have a candle light dinner with the girl friend, sit back and enjoy the fireplace, take naps here and there, do not get upset with the news that I usually read .... and .... basically .... had a good .... hmmmm .... nope .... have a great time.
Sighhhh ..... maybe Hydro Quebec will decide to do more maintenance tomorrow and cut my power again.
If not .... regular posting will resume tomorrow when I wake up at 7:00 EST
As to what is my take of the news today .... here is my abbreviated 2 minute version.
- The election of Scott Brown to the US Senate is big news. Wining in the bluest of Democrat states was something that I would never have predicted a few months ago. If the Democrats cannot win in Massachusetts .... they cannot win anywhere. If the Democrat leadership does not heed what the electorate is saying .... they will be wiped out in the mid term elections this year.
- The Christian-Muslim religious war is Nigeria is spreading. This has the potential to break out into a conflict that can claim tens of thousands of lives if not stopped. The next few days are going to be crucial.
- China's growth accelerates to 10.7 percent in 4Q.
- Russia diversifies into Canadian dollars.
- Violence in Afghanistan continues.
- Prayers to the people of Haiti. Life in that impoverished country is only getting worse.

Have a great holiday in Quebec.
Post some pics of Quebec :)
Thanks for the comments.
When I get back to my home in Montreal, I will post some pictures of the Laurentians and Montreal. Warning .... it is winter in Quebec right now, so do not be shocked by the 6 foot snow drifts.
