Is The US As A Great Warrior Tribe? -- A Commentary

Has the US become a 'ruling warrior tribe'? (GALLO/GETTY)

From Al Jazeera:

According to tribal Yemeni tradition, if a dispute has been resolved peacefully, any dagger that has been drawn cannot go back into its scabbard unless it tastes blood. Traditionally, an animal is slaughtered to satisfy its thirst and restore its holder's honour.

Since the Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact without a single shot, let alone nuclear warheads, being fired, the 'Greater Middle East' region has been turned into a real theatre of war.

My Comment: I decided to post this commentary from Al Jazeera as a window into what many in the Middle East believe US policy in the region is. I personally disagree with much of it .... I read the same thing during the height of the Iraq war, and I am sure that I will be reading about it later this year when the Afghan conflict heats up. But I do recognize that many in the Middle East view outsiders as the source of their problems (with the US being the chief boogey man at the moment), and would cheer if they could see foreign influences kicked out of the region along with Israel.

Realistically .... if this was to happen .... the problems of the Middle East will only intensify. The problems of the Middle East are due to the many cultural/tribal/religious and political differences within the region .... this has always been the case in the past .... and will be in the future. The day that people in the Middle East start to reflect and ponder their own actions and policies .... that is the day that the Middle East will start to rise from the wretched and miserable conditions that many find themselves in today. But if I was to be a betting man .... I would bet that this is not going to happen .... definitely not in my lifetime.

interesting point

did the west-European tribes benefit from the rule of Rome? in the long term possibly, in the short term I doubt they liked paying taxes

is the Middle-East better off under the rule of Washington or Bejing? as a European, I'm betting on the first
