Chad-Sudan Deal Could End Darfur Insecurity, Says US Envoy -- The Telegraph

The normalisation of ties between Khartoum and Ndjamena could end the 'cycle of insecurity' in Darfur, the war-torn region of western Sudan which borders Chad, according to the US envoy, Scott Gration.

"We are extremely grateful [to] both the Sudanese government and the Chadian government [for reaching] out to each other," Gration said in a telephone interview from Washington.

"We think this is historic, but more than that we think this is an absolute key to breaking what we think is a cycle of insecurity that is going on in Darfur," he said.
