Affirmative Action Gone Terribly Wrong In The U.S. Navy

Complaints About Female 'Captain Bligh' Began Early, Says a Navy Chaplain -- Time Magazine

Navy Cmdr. Maurice "Mo" Kaprow was stunned to watch then-Cmdr. Holly Graf in action. He saw her for the first time after arriving aboard her ship, the destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill, in Italy just before the Iraq war began in 2003. A Jewish rabbi and a Navy chaplain, he'd been sent to the Churchill on temporary assignment as the vessel readied for war. Usually pulling out of port is a methodical and precise process. "But I never in my life saw such chaos as there was on that bridge — Holly Graf began yelling and screaming rudder orders, engine orders, insulting people," Kaprow recalled Friday. "I'd never seen anything like this."

My Comment: The officers who promoted her should be brought in front of some investigative panel to explain themselves. This case is getting more bizarre with each passing day. What is worse is that I cannot help but feel that many competent officers were not promoted or recognized because of this officer. Kudos to retired Navy rabbi Maurice Kaprow to voice what many were feeling .... but were not in a position to say anything.

I was unreasonably berated by a Navy Chief (E-7) as an E-3 over a period of time. The one thing stopping me from knocking him down wasn't intimidation of him per se, but the brig time and pay penalties that would be the result of that action.

So I just took it in stride and completed that duty assignment, trading pleasantly dark thoughts about the worthless pos with other shipmates.

Thank you RTLM for your comment.

Sigh .... I am sure that all of us have been in some lousy work situation with a lousy boss .... it is just that silly me likes to believe that organizations like the US Navy are immune from this.

Yeah .... right.
